Does Map 1 on the Phearable 1.5R tune offer a meaningful difference over stock?

Hey all,

I've been toying with the idea of throwing a KTuner on my car and using one of the big-name OTS tunes (Phearable 1.5R being the frontrunner). However, I don't have head studs or a more robust clutch installed yet so I'm not planning on cranking the boost up like crazy right away. Phearable claims Map 1 of the tune uses 18PSI which is peak factory boost (though I rarely hit it). My hope is that I can enjoy a little bit of extra pep without torching my clutch and engine with tons of extra boost

Can anyone confirm/deny that Map 1 feels any different than stock? Phearable themselves advertise the dyno numbers on Map 3, and I can't really find any anecdote online about Map 1 specifically

Yes, there is a difference. I don't think the 23 PSI is going to do damage if used responsibly.
For me the reduced rev hang along with the start/stop delete made the tunes worth adding.
I'm basing this on my experience with my 10gen. hatch. I drove it on a 24 PSI tune with no problems and that car had the weaker rods.

Can you elaborate a little on what was different about Map 1? Any extra power, did it hit boost faster, better/worse fuel economy, etc?

Sorry, it's been a while since I used the Phearable tune. I thought map 1 for KTuner was 16 PSI.
I used map 2 for the most part.
Phearable tune is very linear and shifts are extremely smooth.
I think it actually hits the claimed PSI, unlike stock.
It drives like a completely different car.

I've been thinking about this question, too. I drive my Si aggressively and want to go full throttle a lot so I'd rather stay in Map 1 and utilize reduced rev hang. But then what's the point if I'm only staying at stock boost levels? Why would I tune and risk voiding the warranty?

Phearable 1.5R says Map 1 is 16psi per their website, where did you find that it says 18psi?

Here's a 10th gen CivicX resource:

That's what I thought, 16 PSI valet mode.
Even so, Map 1 offers a nice response and is very drivable.

Been running 1.5r in map1 mostly because I dont leave my ktuner 2.0 plugged in, and keep it in map1 for morning commute when the engine is still cold. It's still a huge improvement over stock. Increased torque is very noticeable, and it just feels better to drive. As with my 10ty gen, engine doesnt feel choked like factory calibration. 1 2 shift is much quicker with reduced rev hang, and with clutch pedal stopper rev hang is almost non existent. Sport mode does not increase power, but it certainly fools you into thinking there's more. Stock tires are already at limit with map1.
