Why is the release of all this information so delayed?
The sales guy I bought my ctr from mentioned Honda has done that in the past and the early release of model years was a new thing

The MSRP will go up anywhere between $1000-$1500 depending on the changes. Based on the ramblings I've heard, some changes for MY27 include adding Google built-in added to the touchscreen and updating it to be similar to the Acura ADX and Passport, where you can now watch videos on the screen, USB-C ports, updated front and rear fascias. Power will remain unchanged (They'll let HRC products handle the power upgrades). Don't quote me on any of this though, I haven't confirmed yet.

Generally when Honda announces changes/updates to a model it does also mean that that model has a couple more years of life left in it as well. So the FL5 MIGHT be around until MY29. Honda rarely ever does major final year updates, the most recent was the MY14 Civic Si coupe.
If that's the case, outside of the front and rear fascia, it's completely useless lol. I don't think the average CTR driver is watching videos or even wants the Google built in.

USB is nice though, but I wouldn't kill for it, USB A is more universal anyways.

I imagine the big selling point will be the increased airflow in the new bumper.

Completely useless to you, tthese changes would be to bring the FL5 in line with the rest of the line up and its capabilities since Honda is aiming to make the 9 inch touchscreen standard across its line up

Most likely becuase its from Honda JP and there is no communication with Honda JP and NA. Wouldn't be surprised if that people who work for Honda NA corporate are just as surprised as we are because they received this information last minute.

While I don't have any real complaints about the infotainment, it could stand to be faster. If Honda is going to upgrade it with the faster processor along with a port of Log R, why not. The USB ports in MY23-25 can be switch over to USB C easily and added as it is now.

I'm curious about the exterior changes. I think the car is perfect the way it is.

The more I look at the HRC concept, I think it’s the facelift. If you look at the front bumper, the lip extends further and the surround around the lower intake portion is different. I think maybe the little upper canards might also be built in. I also notice that all the windows are blacked out, which I assume is to hide interior changes. If it wasn’t the facelift, there would be no need to camouflage it, they didn’t camouflage the ITS HRC concept.

Imo the 9inch touchscreen and the built in Google is pretty mediocre. I actually like the smaller screen in the sport trims better than even the one in our cars currently. Much more simple.

If the display was really responsive then it'd be a different story.

I think the update will be like it was for the fk8, so probably signalling the end of the FL5 in prep for the next gen one
That's not my read at all. FK8 LE was literally a "limited edition". Not necessarily where my mind goes when I think of "facelift", which implies a mid-cycle refresh and a few more model years of availability.

It's a press release and can be misleading, but honestly it's pretty tough to read anything other than that out of the information provided.

I agree on the smaller screen being better(personally I'd prefer a screen that could fit in the dashboard center mesh like the Ferrari passenger screens), but the overwhelming majority have always complained about Honda being behind times with screens, not realizing that Honda was doing screens in their cars long before most and they got alot of flak for it.

I think the timing in general for everything has been way off. It really could've been that the type r was slated to end, but the reversal on emissions laws likely led Honda to give the CTR a little more life.

It's not selling in Europe or Japan afaik, so there's the chance they move production of the FL5, but I'm just speculating. I can't see a business reason to justify the car still being made in Japan.

I'm assuming it's still being made in Japan because:

1). Brand Identity & Pride, Type-R being Japanese and made in Japan is important to Honda's identity and heritage. Yes the previous turbo type-rs were made in England but that's because they were greenlit and developed in England by Honda UK.

2). The plants that would be able to make it arepretty much at capacity, in Ohio where the ITS is made makes a bunch of other models including some Acuras. The plant in Canada where Civics are made also would require tooling updates in order to make the FL5. The only plant with available capacity is PMC but they're currently contracted to make hydrogen CRVs so they would have to complete those before moving onto the FL5 and anything being made at that plant is generally expensaive because that plant has less automation than there other plaants.

So a year or so ago we 'heard' that the TLX was going away....and sure enough, 5 mos later the TLX went away.

Well.....word on the street is the Integra isn't long for this world. Like the RDX which is gone come April and not to be replaced til......2028! LOL....WTF.

integra is too much 'civic' for my liking. That's why I like the other Acura's....RDX/TLX/MDX don't share honda chassis and it shows. ADX and Integra are knockoff bastard cars with crappy trannies and engines. sigh.....

The Integra really only did well the year it was released and been on decline ever since. Like you said too much civic in its DNA.

Acura should've launched the Integra with a detuned 10th Gen Accord 2.0T powertrain(yes this wouldve stepped on the toes of the TLX, but the TLX should've remained V6 only IMO), and the ITS should've had SH-AWD like all other modern Type-S models.

Yup. I said they should have have put a 2.0 liter, 225 ish HP engine w/10 Speed. And AWD? Sure, but not required. same with ADX: 2.0, 225 hp and 10 speed. Damn CVT's.

I mean the sales numbers look like it generally outsells the A3 and CLA combined, so I feel like it’s not doing too bad? Isn’t it Acura’s biggest seller right now?
