I talked them down to 54k even OTD from 54.8k

another dealer near me has a crystal black Type R and they want $54.766 OTD with illumination door, Alcantera wheel, leather shift knob, tray and mats, nitrous, locks, free lifetime engine and powertrain warranty

I went with the $54k, lo jack, PPF, tray and mats, window tint. The PPF is on the front of the car, mirror caps, and door handle cups to prevent ring scratches. Maybe a few other spots with PPF. Also this is the one that just got off the truck.

The one with the Alcantera wheel and accessories pre installed I haven’t seen in person, only old dealership photos. I think maybe they wanted to install the accessories behind my back while I drove out to see them.

I got them to take off the extra charge for pin stripe accessory. I don’t want a pin stripe on the crystal black and they over charge for that anyway

Can’t wait to pick her up tonight, they put a sign on the windshield dash that says sold 🖤❤

I walked into the dealership and said I want to talk to the owner. 2024 MSRP, done and dusted. Be patient, have confidence and always, always be prepared to tell someone to go scratch. Good luck as the deals are out there.

Have we decided if there is rhyme or reason to the badge number on the dashboard?
I always felt that it was a ‘reach in the box and pull one out’ affair. I’m probably incorrect , but have the badge numbers been on a steady ascent?

There is absolutely a correlation between the badge number and build date in the driver side door jamb. For example, my badge is 49,101 and my build date is 06/25. Other builds in July and August have higher badge numbers, 50-51k.

This was the same in the 10th gen. My 2019 CTR had a build date of 02/19 and was badge 24,174. My brother’s 2019 had a build date of 03/2019 and his badge is 25,518.

While the badge numbers may not be precise in build order, they are generally very accurate. I’ve matched badge numbers to build dates going back to 2017.

Thank you.
so if I showed my badge number, could you guess the build date? Or visa-versa?

I don’t know build and badge numbers as well on the 11th gen CTR as I do on the 10th gen. I owned two 10th gen CTRs before, a 2019 and a 2021. And even on 10th gens, I know the badge numbers by model years, not the specific build month. Nonetheless, whatever your badge number is, if you found another badge near yours either above or below, I bet the build date would correspond above or below accordingly.

For example, a badge number 1000 units higher than yours is probably a build date one or two months after your build date. A badge number 1000 units below yours is a month or two before your build date.

2024 yeah, but these are the last J-VIN Type R for the time being now I’m pretty sure

Doesn’t seem to be any 2026 coming, and if they re-tool in the states to build more they won’t have the J-VIN

I didn’t want to risk missing out on this once in a lifetime dream car for me, has to be new because I want to break the engine in myself and all that. I plan to keep her forever.

I could wait a few months but maybe all the dealers will try to sell the very last J-VIN Type R’s (2025 MY) thru 1st quarter ‘26 for 60k, 70k

I just couldn’t risk it because I can’t afford 60k+ for this car, and I only had a small window to get this car regardless for other reasons.

But yeah I spent a solid 9 months car shopping to get my Honda Accord V6 6MT on a deal that was under the value of the vehicle, with low mileage used

Grats on the purchase!

Hesitant about a low wage tech installing a lo jack system into a new car (although I think the new ones just plug into the OBDII port, but they still need to cut a 12v wire in the harness). There are some threads about car companies sharing driving data with insurance companies, and some of us have removed the modem modules from our cars to avoid that happening at all. Not sure if lo jack shares any of their data with insurance companies, but I wouldn't risk it. If they are plugged into your OBD2 port they basically know all of your car's data (speed, acceleration, boost pressure, braking pressure, deceleration, etc).

Quick search: https://www.computerworld.com/artic...nd-insurance-companies-to-track-vehicles.html

Good luck.

First full day of the Type R, I made good friends with this pot hole for the low cost of my tire sidewall.

so I had to buy a whole new tire but the wheel itself is untouched and clean still

can’t hang out with pot holes anymore =( sorry old friends

I now have a new life goal now that I have my dream car

I’m going to save up and buy a 2nd Type R, lightly used, for mods

might take awhile to save up again but this car, it has possessed my spirit

Yeah I would probably trade a Ferrari for a Type R

not sure if I could trade a Porsche or a lambo for the Type R. That would be a tougher decision
