Wow, that is pretty dang light!

My MITA FKS 18X9.0 wheels with Pirelli P Zero 275/45 ZR18 tires have a combined weight of over 48 pounds.

Hmm... I wonder if there is any way I can shave some weight next time I buy tires... 🤔

Your PZero tire by itself already weighs 30lbs, according to TireRack!

For reference…Going with a lighter lug nut will obviously result in the best performance bang for the buck.

OEM lug nut weight:

Ray’s lug nut weight:

I was simply curious of the weight comparison. Not looking to shave grams for every bolt/nut used.

Yup. You got it.
My MITA FKS wheels do weigh just over 18 pounds each, so, yup. About 30 pounds a tire is correct.
Pretty nutz, eh?

Cushy ride, though. Maybe a little too cushy with all that extra sidewall.

40 sidewall next time around gonna be a nice reduction in fender rub and in weight.

Cheers.

I was simply curious of the weight comparison. Not looking to shave grams for every bolt/nut used. Ironically, the FD RX-7 engineers focused on gram weight reductions where torque specifications were critical because many bolts were drilled to save mere grams.
Here is another area where I Epic Failed the "FL5 Type R Weight Reduction Project" :

I bought extended length chrome steel lug nuts to replace the super duper short OEM stubbies.
Who knows how many grams of unsprung weight I added to my corners with those?

I could know, but that would take the effort of calibrating my scale and like measuring... and stuff.

So my light wheels have been "de-lighten-o-fied", a.k.a. "re-heavy-fied", by adding big and heavy tires AND lug nuts.

Pretty sure this is still lighter than the OEM stock setup with those 26 pound wheels.

New rotors and pads installed to complement the new shoes. PIC was right after mounting the wheel so the suspension was not settled. I’ll detail the calipers in the Spring when it warms so I can also fix a few paint chips.
