I just got back from Japan and saw an FL5 parked with this exhaust. I wasn’t considering it before but it looked perfect to me. Really keen to hear your thoughts on how it sounds.
Indeed, that destination is my ultimate aspiration. I intend to visit it someday. However, I have deviated from my original plan and have decided to leave it as is. The quote I received was not appealing due to the extended wait time and the high prices.
In today’s digital age, it is disheartening to see that the concept of “1+1 equals 2” has become obsolete. While businesses must generate revenue, the exorbitant prices associated with such services are simply unacceptable. The waiting period alone is a significant deterrent.
While I understand that it is impractical to have spare parts readily available, the prospect of waiting six months to a year for a product after making a purchase is simply not feasible for me.

This is the reason a lot of JDM stuff isn't more popular in the US. It's very hard to justify paying a premium then waiting another 6-12 months to take delivery. You would think the inverse would be true.

I get that paying the premium can sometimes make things a bit tricky, and honestly, the wait is something I’m not a fan of. It’s just hard to understand how, in this day and age, they rely so heavily on that, but then they get upset when people suggest it’s the best way to go. It’s like they think they’re above everyone else, and if you don’t agree, you’re just ignorant. I’m not a huge fan of niche marketing, but at the end of the day, it’s just another marketing tactic, right? It’s the same with the wheels you like. You finally have the money, and then you’re told this… or the wheels aren’t in production anymore, but they were just three months ago, or they only have three wheels instead of the set, or someone’s asking three or four times the price because they’re “discontinued.” That’s why JDM stuff isn’t as popular for some people, maybe I’m wrong, but money is tight these days, and giving it away like that feels a bit unfair. On the flip side, some American companies sometimes just live on hype and don’t really develop a good product. When someone says they don’t like it, you get bombarded with loyalists who can see things clearly, even though the product is just hype and not good. Like, I was told once that I just have a dress-up Civic Sport that I don’t need to be so demanding on what I expect. Sadly, that dress-up Civic Sport cost 50k, and it was so hyped that I felt like I was buying into something big, so I expected a little more from whatever I got. That’s just my take, and maybe I’m wrong for some people, but that’s just what it is.

Don’t think it’s marketing driven. More of business controlling inventory. There are plenty of made to order businesses out there not just in this car accessory industry.

This is my ideal exhaust too and the tariffs are the main reason why I’ll probably build my own exhaust with GReddy or Apexi mufflers. Save myself thousands and hopefully source a better priced one or used one over the next years

Very fair call. The price of parts is insane at the moment. I really want the Varis or Voltex CF wings but the price is crazy.

I can definitely relate to shipping costs for parts from Japan. I ordered the following parts through Black Hawk Japan.
2nd order
-CF fender Arches,
-black Duct Line.
-Mugen (Yamaha) Performance Dampers
I paid $512 to UPS for tariffs and fees

1st order
-Blitz CF front lip
-Seeker shifter bushings
-OEM Honda Visors
I paid UPS $255 in tariffs and fees
