I guess it depends on the quality of the roads where you live. I have seen many people in the US complain about the dampening on even comfort mode but then also say that their road quality is pretty poor. I imagine on decent roads and most where I live seem decent (SEQ), comfort mode shouldn’t be too bad. In general, R+ mode looks over damped even on a pretty decent race track and most people run in on sport mode which suggests that it’s not really practical. I was considering getting it from the US (I don’t actually have an FL5 currently, awaiting an allocation in November) but I’ll see how it goes on a few highway drives first

Agree.
In my limited experience, Comfort mode is the only genuinely usable mode. Even on track people use it for curb compliance etc. Which seems a real shame.
Has anyone here from Australia already done this ?

It's been a consideration for me. I always drive in comfort suspension setting, even in individual mode. Everything else it just a bit too much.

I'd need to see if they're available at a decent price, the Australian dollar being what it is, but I'd appreciate being able to make use of sport and +R mode.

This precisely..
I can't think of any reason why the ITS module from the US market cars would not be simply plug and play for our market. But I'd feel better about the whole thing if I wasn't the first to try it out.
I think what is a good value modification in the U.S, may end up quite expensive for us.

My first post on this forum :)

I bought the ITS ADS for my CTR earlier this year. First off it works just fine in my Australian car - straight plug and play. I had trouble finding a place which shipped to Australia, then found it on Hybrid Racing.

Cost me $540 AUD, so not exactly cheap. But it is what it is, and not once have I thought hmmm I wish I had that $540 back to upgade my coffee machine.

I bought the ITS module not so much because it was absolutely necessary, more just because I could. I really liked the stock CTR damping in comfort, didn't find it uncomfortable and definitely not 'un-driveable' as some youtubers have described it. From my perspective the ITS module adds a bit more suspension travel in every mode. The biggest improvement for me is going over speed bumps, I don't have to slow down nearly as much as I used to and it's significantly less jarring. Given 90% of my driving is dad-taxi around suburban streets this works well for me.

100% happy I bought it, car is super comfortable and compliant and it's great being able to actually use +R. I've thought about putting the stock module back in for a while but don't really have enough motivation to.

My $0.02

As an early adopter of the ITS module I ended up going back to the stock FL5 one after a few months. The ITS felt too soft and sacrificed performance in Sport and R mode. Comfort was almost a joke and way too soft.

Defintely the answer I was looking for. Was considering getting this because people talked about how much more comfortable the car was but I defintely didn't want to sacrifice performance on track.

Did you do track with that module or was it just spirited driving on windy roads / street?

I know people in Australia complain about the quality of the roads but compared to the states we have great roads

Most the time they are great lol.

Good enough for me to not think its uncomfortable. To my family members they do think it rides a bit too bumpy.

With the CTR ADS, my wife used to tell me "I like driving your car, but I don't like being a passenger in it".

Few more recollections of ITS vs CTR ADS. When I first installed the ITS ADS the car did lose a bit of that razer sharp turn in, which to me feels like a result of sligihtly more suspension travel. People have mentioned online that moving to the ITS ADS moves everything one step down, suggesting that CTR COMFORT = ITS SPORT, and CTR SPORT = ITS +R. It doesn't really feel like this to me. Kinda hard to explain but even though the suspension is firmer in ITS +R than in CTR COMFORT, it still feels like there's more travel and compliance in the suspension so it's not quite as sharp.

I'm probably not explanining it very well, I'm curious now to swap back to the CTR ADS to see how it feels.

It's still personal preference at the end of the day. For me, the vast majority of my driving is carting the kids to and from school, navigating lots of speed bumps, some long trips in regional Vic on crappy country roads, and my wife drives the car at least once a week, so sacrificing a bit of sharpness for a bit more comfort suits my needs at this point in time.

Picked up my CTR and I’m glad I didn’t pre purchase the ADS module as I’m really enjoying the ride in comfort and sport mode. Even R mode isn’t too bad on nice roads to be honest. Maybe the roads I’m using are pretty good quality but highway driving on comfort mode feels great

Same. I've made peace with Comfort mode.

Congrats on the pickup ! Looking forward to your thoughts on your car once you racked-up some klm. 👍

I had to pass by the Hoda dealership I bought mine from and there were a couple of new TypeR models being collected that day in pristine condition.

The feeling of driving it off the lot is good isn't it? Enjoy, and I hope it brings you as many smiles as mine has!
