Putting on spacers pushes out the pivot point. For some people that's okay. For others, it's not.

I think if you are tracking it or parking lot racing, I'd probably NOT go with spacers.

If you have basically a garage queen that goes to Cars and Coffee and is your weekend ride, I think spacers are fine.

Everyday car with mix use street and highway, eh...I think going with no more than 15-20mm spacers shouldn't be an issue.
I do all of the above with mine excepting tracking “yet”
I run mine down Ortega Highway in California which is pretty aggressive twisties with no issues . My shop said I will be fine with my setup and I have 100% faith in their recommendation. They’ve worked on more FL5’s then probably I could even guess with no reported issues .

Question: Sorry for my ignorance, but a spacer will do the same harm as having a wheel with a different offset. The car suspension wasn’t designed for more offset than the one it originally had. We can debate all we want about whether +45 or whatever is the same or safe for the car, but the suspension wasn’t designed for +45 it was designed for +60, regardless of whether the wheel costs $1,000 or $10,000. In the end, you are putting more stress on the suspension, whether it’s with a spacer or a wheel with a “proper” offset. Even if the accessory is +60, we are still modifying our cars because we think they look better than what was originally intended.

I mean yes. But so does every mod. It's all little extra stressors, and parts will wear a tiny bit faster. It's up to you if that's worth it or not. It's the best part of owning and modifying your cars!

Don't worry on using wheel spacers. Honda engineers are fully aware of the abuse Type R see and are designed accordingly.

Why I state this? The DE5 HRC has +45 Wheels that equal to a 15mm spacer...

Will the dynamics of the car change? Yes. Can you feel them? Perhaps, I don't know your driving skills but if you are in the 95% of regular enthusiast drivers, you will not feel the difference.

Enjoy your car and if something brakes, replace. No biggy. Is normal to have questions/doubt. Just make sure you buy good quality spacers...don't cheap out.

Why? Safety.

Cheers!

That’s what I say, but everyone makes a big fuss about things like oil changes whether 3k, 5k, or 10k is okay, or if you should use 5W-20 or 5W-30, and so on. Most of us modify our cars mainly for looks, because the actual functionality doesn’t really fall behind. I mean, how many of us are truly going to get the full benefit of running a club-racing-spec suspension on a daily driver?

Most of us here spend the money on mods because we enjoy it, not because we’re going to extract every bit of performance. We’re not Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen, able to squeeze out extra lap time from perfectly tuned setups.

At the end of the day, we do this because we love it. Some people just take it way too seriously. My advice is: do what makes you happy. If something gets damaged, it’s not the end of the world!

So far I’ve only noticed slightly more torque steer. Handling wise, especially through canyon roads, seems to be mostly unchanged, with maybe a slight delay in how immediate the turn in feels.

definitely cons I can deal with for the car to look proper.
