But at least you’re coming! Having an instructor isn’t a bad thing either for a track that is new to you!I haven't done any HDPE track days though, mainly just with groups in Cali, the Midwest and a bunch of tracks in Europe. Guess I'm going to be in the novice group.![]()
I did drive VIR a loooong time ago, and haven't done much sim driving on the track so an instructor is probably a good idea anyway, and this would be my first track day in the FL5.But at least you’re coming! Having an instructor isn’t a bad thing either for a track that is new to you!
Right by VIR there is nothing but there is a bigger town close that likely has a few tire shops (Dansville) so you could probably get 200tw tires shipped there and get em fitted. VIR also has a shop on sight so they could mount em there, id call though cuz not sure when they open or close.I'm driving down and need to figure out a wheel tire situation.
Ive currently got an OEM set of wheels/tires with 1 season on them, and a set of winter 18's. I was thinking about going to a lower TW tire after mine were gone, but that would be after the track day possibly. I also don't want to drive down on a 200TW from Wisconsin.
Maybe get something fitted locally?
Drive down with winter tires and track with the stock tires. Or drive down with stock tires and get another set of wheels with 200TW. With a long drive, you don’t want to jeopardize 2 days of track time with a punctured tire.I'm driving down and need to figure out a wheel tire situation.

Congrats! I hope you can find a way to make it work! This looks amazing! I have to plan out my year and see which events I can attend or sadly have to sit out on.
Even WTD, which is my favorite event to attend is up in the air right now as the wife and I navigate these early stages of parenthood.
Appreciate the tag/invite, @PointByPatrol !
