There's a local shop that has a set of the ExtremeContacts in stock, but that would mean I need to get a set of wheels to go on the tires. It's crazy that there's not more options out there for tires that fit the OEM wheels.

Go with the Pirelli AS Plus 3 in 265/35-18. Great tire and width runs true to OEM. The DWS06+ are older and need to go to a 275 width to match
I second the Pirelli AS Plus 3, although I went with 255/35/19 mounted to my Stock 19s. I now run these year round. I don't track my car, and honestly haven't noticed much of a difference since switching out from the stock summers. Honestly, living in the PNW I would just put those on full time since they are so much better in the cooler rainy days than either the summers or a winter tire setup that's more for snow. You also get a slightly higher sidewall with the 35 size and a slightly narrower tire, both of which are good additions for the winter months without sacrificing very much on the daily usability.

New "Winter" setup FL5 : r/Civic_Type_R

Finally made a decision on my "winter" setup for the FL5. I'm in Southern Indiana, we get a little snow maybe 10-20" a year, sometimes ice, lots of cold, but also random week or two of sunny and 60 degrees. The morning I had these installed was 24 degrees, so just in time!

I was looking for an all-weather tire with the three-peak mountain snowflake that prioritized wet vs snow. I also decided to keep stock wheels vs buying a set of dedicated wheels. Once I started looking at alternative sizes in 19" there seemed to be an OK selection. Next spring I'll likely buy a new set of 18s for autox/hpde.

Went with Pirelli Cinturato Weatheractive in 255/35/19. They are directional similar to Michelin CC2, which are not offered in FL5 19" fitment. I also looked at Vredestein Quatrac Pro but only offered in 245/40/19. Seems a little narrow on a 9.5" rim. Got a good price on them from Discount Tire. Noise didn't seem to change much on the highway vs. Pilot Sport.

Handling is obviously a letdown compared to factory, but that's expected.

That is all. Thanks for reading thought I'd post if someone else is in a similar situation!

Was going to say Michelin CC2's. I run those on my truck in a 22 inch but wasn't sure if they ran them in our factory 19. Great tire though.

I also went to Pirelli Weatheractive for my new winter setup. Originally I had X-Ice from 2018 that I used on my FK8 but its been too many years so I decided to swap this year. The FK8 setup was 18x8.5 ET40 wheels running on 235/45/18 tires. Decided to go with 245/40/18 this time around on the Pirellis. Was going to go with Cross Climate 2 but the Pirelli seems broadly similar and was cheaper. Seeing last few winter was pretty lacking in actual snow going with all weather tires vs true snow seems to make sense.

So far these are a bit quieter than X-Ice, I am hoping for a bit better MPG than actual snow but so far doesn't seem to be the case.

255/35/19 Michelin PA5 as dedicated winters on OEM rims here in BC.

the slightly higher sidewall makes the ride better as well.

A higher sidewall would be nice. The roads aren't all that friendly even when it's nice outside.

I'm running Continental DWS06+ 265/30/19 on Integra Type S wheels for the winter. They were awesome in the WA rain last year and have been great so far this year. On the occasional cold/dry day I've been impressed with their grip for an all season.

While it might be tempting to go narrower and thicker sidewall, you will notice a decrease in performance. If it's for comfort I'd recommend swapping the ADS module to the Type S in the colder months instead.

I run DWS06+ on my other vehicles for summer. They are good - but nowhere near a real winter tire. There are no real winter tires in 265/30/19. Closest is 255/35/19

The OP lives in the PNW - same area as me. We get about 1-2 weeks of snow per year and lots of rain. They are totally suitable for driving in the winter up here. I don't think he was looking for actual snow tires.

in that case I would 100% recommend DWS06+. It’s the perfect tire for a daily driver sporty car

I was not, lol. Just something that helps with the traction during the rain season. I work 2.4 miles away from home, so if it's snowing so bad I can't get to work then we have bigger issues than dedicated snow tires.

I wanted a set of winter/snow tires and wheels that would be good in the snow (Central Illinois), not be awful on dry pavement, and wheels that would keep the tires tucked into the fenders to not sling winter crap on the side of the car. The only thing I could put together close to the factory offset of 60mm was to get a set of used CTR wheels and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 from Costco.

Compared to my other cars with full snow tires (Blizzak, X-Ice) the Alpin 5 are not quite as good on snow BUT are much quieter and have much better dry grip than the full snow tires. I'm very happy with that tradeoff.

I've got a 2018 Focus ST (currently shopping for a 2025 CIvic Si) that runs 235/40R18's in the summer. I have been running 215/50R17 Michelin CrossClimate2's for the last 6 years in Michigan winters, and they've been excellent. CC2's do have a Three-Peak winter rating and have been a great compromise between summer tires and snow tires. I've had Blizzaks and they're great in snow but make your car handle like a mini-van in the dry. The CC2's don't drop off too bad on dry compared to my Eagle F1's, and don't wear out nearly as fast.

Even more than in snow, the CC2's excel in rain. The directional tread pumps the water right out. My Focus doesn't even pull when going through standing water. Best rain tire I've ever had by far.

Once I find an Si, I'll probaby save the CC2's from the ST for it, because they have the same rolling radius.
