My dealership lied and went up to $56,999 when I got there. Wouldn’t honor the $55,000 out the door.

back in the hunt for a type r for $5k ADM or less in the southeast US if anyone knows a dealership
Yup, that's is why this search is so hard -- the bait-and-switch... and why i was so worried while waiting mine out. I was so glad my salesperson was one of the good guys! Yah, it's only 1k more... but i don't like dealing with dishonest salespeople or dealerships -- you don't know what other slimy stuff they may also pull.

This is another reason why last few days of December is prob the best time since if they want to hit some sales goals, they don't have the option to wait for another customer to walk through the door in another week or so.

literally they tell me, “we will honor the $55k, we take care of our law enforcement and thank you for your service.”

I get there and they want $55k + $1,999 for the pin stripe, paint protection, nitrogen, etc…

and they proceeded to tell me “it’s at $56k only $1,000 over”

I’m like, it’s $2,000 over! One penny off of $2,000 doesn’t round down to $1,000 lol

Good on you for walking out. I don't think people who do a bait and switch deserve the sale.

the GM came out to me as i was getting into my truck and said “I thought we had a deal. So you’re really gonna let this car go over $1,000.” (Really $1,999.99)

I just laughed at him and left

Dealerships are absolute snakes. It's heartbreaking to hear stories like these. They deserve to be utterly exterminated, with absolutely no mercy. COVID did part of the job, but it seems we need another crisis to completely wipe them out. Only then will they beg us to buy from them. Greed has no limits.

Yeah most dealers have scummy practices. I don’t want them to go out of business because the more options I have to play one auto retailer against another ultimately saved me more in the last 20 years than the last 3 years of COVID inflation has cost me. Previously never paid close to MSRP, especially when you aren’t loyal to a brand but instead are willing to just choose the right car at the right price.
I hate the thought of 8-10 auto retailers setting their non-negotiable buy price online (like Tesla, Lucid, Rivian)

Roush is an MSRP dealer, but not for you. Your name will likely never be called irrespective of where you are on the list and how many FL5s they've sold. I recommend looking elsewhere. @RUNN1N will tell you:)

Frankly, I’m not really looking anymore. I messaged a bunch of dealers months ago and they’re just now getting back to me. I’m ok waiting years to get MSRP.

Cam’s the sales manager there, and this was literally the same message he sent me when my name was next up on their list—I bought mine from Cam at MSRP + $1,200 in PPF that had already been installed (not something I minded since it was the same A-pillar forward kit that I would’ve purchased myself and the shop that installed it verified the dealership wasn’t making a profit on it).

I don’t know if USSFCU has been mentioned yet. I’ve been pre-approved for 5.24% 60 months. Just haven’t found a car yet. Their current rates are as low as 4.74% 36 months.
Do I have to do anything in particular to get a loan from them? Outside of just being approved?

That’s a good price, indeed. Unfortunately, I won’t settle for anything over MSRP. I want this car, but I don’t need it now.

Yes, you are correct. Those folks at Roush are solid. I'm mixing up my Ohio Honda dealers. For the record, it's Honda Marysville with the interesting approach, NOT Roush.

Yeah Honda Marysville sells to friends and flippers, but everyone I’ve dealt with at Roush has been great. We’ve bought with them twice now, and it’s probably the only place in Ohio to get a Type-R at MSRP. Very pleasant buying experience.
