IMO that is terrible since there are dealers taking MSRP for the ITS.
Even though they are technically the same car, the ITS will feel like a consolation prize to those that wanted a CTR first. So I understand why most would rather pay ADM for a FL5 than MSRP for a DE5.

Maybe. I guess I would have to see/drive one. But if it's the identical car that is just more premium I'd take the ITS over the CTR if they were the same price.

When it comes to cars like the Type R, I always recommend customers deal with a manager first wherever possible or deal with a salesperson that’s an enthusiast.
That’s what I did. Went straight to the GM. Got what I wanted in writing with his signature on it and place my refundable deposit. Bypassed SA and Sales Manager as they would have to check with the GM anyway.

If anyone is interested, I know a dealer with a Black Type R available and a Boost Blue coming in. Reach out to Crown Honda in St. Petersburg, Florida. The sales rep is Cary Forney, number is 727-205-0669 or 727-939-6518. ADM is $5,000 plus $1000 for some dealer options. Probably the best deal I've found across the country after calling 60 dealers last week.

Checking back in with my original post from a page or 2 back.. I was able to get them to down to 51.7 +TTL which puts me at just under 57k otd... then 1000 for transport since I'm buying from an out of state dealer since I live in CA where ADM's are holding firm at 15k on average. I'd be in about 58k after all said and done. This equates out to about a 7k adm but 1500 of that is allocated to their "protection" package.

If you are happy with the color and the price, then that's what counts. If so, Congratuations!:drive:

Honda in Weymouth MA has 2 on their website not listed on the tracker. Salesman refused to discuss pricing over the phone and said they go over pricing at the dealership.

I had little luck with the dealerships in New England. There are pockets in the country where it's clear dealerships are "working together" to set pricing and my interactions with many of the dealerships in New England seemed to suggest that.

There are differing positions on negotiating in person vs. over the phone. I do not subscribe to the theory that you get the best pricing if you're in the dealership. That has not been my experience so I stopped doing that long ago. It's a waste of time. I've secured very good pricing on many vehicles over the years all via e-mail and/or phone. I can't tell you the last time I negotiated a deal sitting in a dealership.

Avoid them, my car as well as a bunch of other members’ cars were bought over the phone.
Absolutely. Such a terrible business practice. There is absolutely no reason to not give your absolute best pricing over the phone if you're looking to move the car.

Actually, i'm one of those who has had the reverse experience. Face-to-face with the sales manager has gotten me amazing deals (like 1/3 off msrp for a dealer demo car), plus some dealerships much prefer a local sale and will give a better deal to a customer sitting in the office. Plus, when going to the dealership, i find they will go out of their way to make sure i don't walk.

Doesn't mean they can't do a good deal on the phone, but i've seen that there can be a preference for a customer who is sitting there in the office and will be servicing and potentially buying more from them, spreading the word about them to friends, and later trading in the car they are selling.

As someone who has helped companies build a customer base with good customer service, i can relate to that. However, that isn't the way the industry is headed... so, they prob should get used to virtual sales. ;p

Pulled the trigger.
Final price was $51,2xx +TTL, so for the additional $6300 over MSRP I received window tint all around, all weather mats, cargo tray+organizer, wheel locks, shift knob, and the paint protection film. Essentially making it a 5k adm +1200 in accessories at retail cost. Best deal I have been able to find considering I got my #1 color choice, red.

No, you didn't understand... The shifter wasn't priced out individually at 1k. my deal was 7k with multiple accessories. I am in a huge metro area where typical ADMs are currently going for 10-25k, and at the time i reserved mine in summer of 2022, almost ALL cars were around 5k ADM, so i was happy with the 7k for the FL5.

i was just mentioning that this Tampa car is 1k lower in price than what i paid -- minus the shifter -- so even without the $162 shifter, it's an even better deal. I mean... 6k ADM right now WITHOUT any accessories is currently a really good deal in florida and california.... and actually most of the country. Many people would go with 5k ADM and no accessories, so 6k with accessories is quite acceptable -- it helps to have SOMETHING extra when we are paying that much more over msrp.
This. I paid $5k ADM, but was also “forced” to pay ~$1300 iirc, for a mediocre interior/exterior protection package. It includes a warranty, so it’s not entirely worthless, but still…$6k including some accessories is most definitely acceptable.
