15k is a pretty high end ADM. most are getting for under 10k now.
For sure (which is what i said)... which is why it's still sitting there :)

But, when i went to look at a CW in Schaumburg so i could see what it was like in-person, they worked really hard to try to get me to buy because i was Local. I very much appreciated how hard they worked to convince me, but they never came down enough... plus, i was already 1st on the list with another dealership, so i didn't negotiate as hard as i might have otherwise.

As so many on here have said... even 10k is high (esp now that we know so many of these cars are coming).

This area is more like california -- in the north and west areas of chicago (esp north), there are several neighborhoods with multi-million dollar homes... and some of those people are getting these cars just because they're hot -- even though they can afford much higher-end cars. I saw a YT video where a car host was bragging about his new CTR... showing it sitting between two high-end luxury sports cars... saying that it wasn't going to stand up to the other cars, but he thought it was a cool car. sigh. He obviously just wanted bragging rights.

However, unless they are a YT influencer, i don't see the wealthy people sitting for hours making calls and getting on lists, etc. They are the kind to walk in...see a marked-up car there...and pay the outrageous ADMs. I think that's what the chicago dealers are thinking when they won't go down on ADM. However, the cars do sit there, and the appeal won't last long as there are a number of very cool vehicles coming out for 2024 that the wealthy can afford -- such as the mustang dark horse. that is a gorgeous car, and if you don't need a utility vehicle, then a two-seater like that would most likely overshadow the hot hatches for the elite buyers.

just my thoughts.

Here's an interesting one...
Brilliance Honda in Illinois was supposed to be auctioning one of their cars at the chicago auto show this week. I just called to find out status, and they said they weren't going to auction it until after the show now. they claim they are donating everything over MSRP to charity.
Whatever... it's not that well publicized (at least not yet), and while i had seen the car on the list previously, it's no longer visible (i guess they manually pulled it), but i just called and they do still have it... and will be doing that auction.

So, even if you don't see it listed anywhere, they said it's STILL THERE.

I talked to ROBERT -- who was nice enough to check and find out status. He offered to call me when he had info [which i didn't do, but said i was going to tell others], so any of you who might be interested can ask him to call you.

I went to see the one at Schaumburg Honda, they wanted 13k over at the time. I wasn’t interested. I bought my FK8 from brilliance Honda a couple of years ago, I inquired about the FL5 with my sales person, and it seems they are not interested in selling that sonic gray FL5 anytime soon. I’ll wait and hope the dust settles and see if I can get one at a reasonable price, if not I’ll just keep my FK8.

All this happened before the savagegeese video, when I saw the video I understood what was going on. My sales person didn’t explain anything.

"We sell at MSRP except when we don't - and I'll donate the extra so I get a tax break" yeah that video didn't do Brilliance or the Geese any favors.

See I don’t even understand the charity auction, isn’t usually when you see charity auctions on TV like mecum or Barrett Jackson, the tax break goes to the buyer? Isn’t the tax break in this case going to the dealer? I don’t know.

Nope, tax break goes to the seller as he’s the one donating to the charity

I don’t see the appeal of his channel, I must admit.
I like it for in-depth car reviews and when they talk about all of the changes that are done structurally underneath the vehicle. They are one of the few 'auto journalists' or influencers that go through and acquire the internal PowerPoint slides of OEMs. They like to bring faces of the people behind some of these exciting new cars. Its not for everyone but it does appeal to some. I do like their documentary esque films. Correct me if Im wrong but I haven't seen any other channel that does that.
