Canadian here, I checked with my salesman and the only info he's given me so far is that I'm number 2 in line and they're expecting 2-3 cars over the 3 year production ?

they'll have markups long as there are suckers willing to pay for it.
In what world wouldn’t that be the case? There will always be someone willing to pay for something they want bad enough…especially if they have the money to do it.

Very nice. It's possible they could mark up the accessories like crazy but hopefully you'll be fine.

We for example added accessories to our vehicles in the past but really nothing too crazy.

If possible ask them if you can add the accessories you want. You can likely get a head start researching on the 22 Honda accessory guide. They you'll at least get accessories you're interested in.

I've done the same. Now obviously there will be Type R specific ones that Honda will show us sooner than later.
So since our initial conversation the dealer has gone radio silent after I refused to meet in person until the weekend due to work. They were willing to take deposits and tell me how it worked but once I asked about how much the dealer add-ons would be and if I could choose which ones I wanted, the entire mood changed. I’m assuming they just want to mark up like crazy like the rest of the dealers. This is Gilman Honda Fort Bend.

That truly is a bummer. I can't understand why dealers are so shit..

So if I were a GM and selling for no markup. I would handle this one of two ways.

A. "Mr. Customer. When this Civic Type R arrives we are going to install accessories on this car. We are not sure exactly what yet. Would you still be interested in it?". If yes give me $500-1000 and you are first in line.

Or...

B. "When we get the Type R in. We plan to install some accessories. We will have it in our showroom and eventually sell it. Would you like us to notify you when the car arrives. At that time we can discuss the sale of the vehicle. You have the first right of refusal."

I would take five potential customers in total and then decided when I want to sell the car. No deposit needed. It's the dealerships car for people to see until it isn't.

No point in not being transparent about it.

Welcome to planet earth. There are people that pay $10,000 for an old baseball card. Lmao
One Old baseball card left on earth bought by a billionaire that loved the player vs a kid vs a mass produced car thats new. Okay. Like I said, long as there are suckers, there will be markups.
