This is actually not true. I have a inside source @ Honda Canada who works on the Production & Sales Allocation team. There are GM's being told by their territory managers what their ESTIMATED allocations will be. I've heard most delaers are being told a range from 0-5 across 3 years or production EACH year.

However, the production allocations team hasn't been told BY the Canadian sales team HOW to allocate units to dealers. So as of RIGHT now dealers are speculating. HQ has NOT I repeat has NOT allocated anything to dealerships, let alone HOW its being distributed via lotto, allocation or online drop etc.

Things are changing on a day to day basis, I keep during different set of "news" from dealers. But at the HQ level NOTHING has been set in stone. yet.

One thing I CAN confirm is, if your deposit hasn't gone through the Honda Canada STRIPE deposit system, your deposit ISNT official. Honda Canada is using the stripe allocation method to match deposits to the person who will take ownership to bypass dealership fuckery.

For Canada, I believe the news will break soon. Mid-Aug - Early Sept for final allocations, pricing, and what distribution method. I'm praying to god its lotto. But rumors are because dealerships might only get max 2 in 2023, its going to be friends, family, top bidders.

My source refuses to give me ALL the things in the discussion, due to fear of job security. But the things they are willing to share I'm putting on here as I get it.

Here is how the online deposit form looks like. Most dealerships WONT share this with you as they will want to control WHO gets entered into the pool.

I cropped the dealership name before the Honda logo to protect the dealership. Honestly, dealerships are fucking gaming the system as I hear more and more details, its making me sick.

I see. I'm a dumb American... I thought it all revolved around us. You'll have to forgive me.
Meant no offence, I wasn’t clear what I was saying in my post.

It SHOULD be the same timeframe.

However, how units will be distributed is almost guaranteed to be traditional dealer allocated by HQ. Your dealer lobbies 99% would not allow for a lotto system as that would remove any chance of markups etc.
For sure u guys will get a minimum of 10x Canada. So expected 5,500+ or so over a 3-year production cycle. Which dealers get how many will almost for sure be based on historical Type R and volume sales.

I assume their deposit system will also be the traditional method, where Honda USA isn't part of the process (but I'm guessing here).

Do sneakers count if I put wheels on them?
So dealers already have access to that deposit system and can enter? I'm guessing it's dealers only?

Just trying to understand what the heck is happening. I know my dealer is just trying to figure out how to make the most money out of this. Wonder if they're just using their own employee info on that form to secure their cars rather than sitting down with customers to do it. This is really annoying.

All dealerships were told to set this up by Honda Canada. All existing deposits were supposed to be transferred onto this system. If the dealership took $$ before they implemented this system they are either supposed to refund customers and go through this system or figure something out.

Some GMs haven't even bothered to do so. Some dealership employees don't even know about this. It's a bit of a cluster fuck at the moment.

One dealership just gave me the link and told me to have at it and go put in a deposit myself. Another told me to provide them my details and they would do it for me.

IF they try to game the system and use employee info, the employee HAS to take the vehicle, or the vehicle will go back to Honda Canada allocation wise. They can sell it back to the dealership if they so choose to, in which the dealership can sell it used or whatever. However, if they play those type of games, Honda Canada will not provide them with any future special vehicles.

Whats happening here is Honda is doing their best to limit dealership BS. But still leaving the power within dealership hands. They can pick and choose who is entered into this system to secure allocations. If its a, first come first serve basis, they can put in whoever they want first and say they were #1 etc etc.

So my deposit from back in April that I have a legit receipt for should have been moved on to the system? Going to make some calls in the morning.

Correct. Honda will be using all your unique data to match 1 to 1 if you are selected. Meaning name, address, credit card information all need to match to be able to take ownership on the vehicle.

This is what I've been told by various sources. Your dealership might say different, but here in Ontario this is per the directions from HQ.

Confirm back what they say. I am very curious what other dealerships are saying about this.

As far as the US...

During the FK8 every dealer got one and additional amounts were based on Civic turn. No telling how it would work now. At this point everyone sells all their Civics. Maybe dealers who mark them up may turn them slower however. It will be interesting to see.

The fucked up thing over here is, that there are NO consistent details at the dealerships.

- 1 dealership claimed all deposits go to Honda Canada, they will determine who gets one (Lotto using the Stripe Deposts) and they will refund deposits if you don't get selected
- 1 dealership said those Stripe links were ONLY for dealerships to decide who they want to sell to and used as tracking/verification by Honda Canada
- 1 dealership said it's only going to be allocations and the Stripe link is only used to hold money by HQ.

If there is anyone from HQ monitoring this crap here, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER GUYS! If my team or dept was in charge of providing, confirming and making sure Dealerships provided customers a consistent message, I would fire my entire team ROFL.

I really wish my acquaintance at HQ would just fucking tell me, but I understand why they cant. I hope #1 is true. but at this point its anyone best guess.

No, there is not access to the deposit links via the Honda Canada website or mention of it. This is because there should be close 300 unique links per each dealership. They should have been all assigned a unique link to use for deposits.

My information is consistent with that provided by your second dealer:

I.E "dealership said those Stripe links were ONLY for dealerships to decide who they want to sell to and used as tracking/verification by Honda Canada"

Embargoed information to be released later this week by Honda Canada to all dealers.
