For the price, the Elantra N is a hard deal to beat. The one thing I’m not the hugest fan of are the pops and bangs fad, that has literally been applied to almost every semi to full performance vehicle released nowadays. And I see comments on social media, all saying how good the N sounds, in comparison to the R, and other vehicles…and while I agree the FK8 was a bit quiet, I do not want that goofy stuff on the Type R.
on the N cars the pops and bangs aren't just for show, they actually built in antilag.

So update to my searches for deposits/waitlist: one of the big local dealerships I got with 2 weeks ago got back with me on now accepting deposits. Got a $500 refundable deposit in for a $10k above MSRP and being first in line. They’re saying they are expecting one this year sometime Nov/December timeframe.

Another dealership wanted me to commit to a non-refundable deposit without set amount above MSRP that would mark it pre-sold.

Curios to hear how everyone else is doing with it being the first week into August.

assuming you happy to pay 10k above MSRP for Nov/Dec time frame ( nov/dec seem like a really attractive time frame )
what if time pushes to like 2023 feb/March will you still be happy for the 10k + msrp?

just a idea for people paying 5-10k over msrp , most dealers will have a attractive eta time to lure customers.
you negotiate with the dealer if pass the eta time you give me will you guys lower the mark up along the line .

since you guys are signing the contract for mark ups , make them work for it

I was working on a local (smaller) dealer for months and was able to recently put down a $500 refundable deposit for MSRP plus $1500 in accessories.

This seems very reasonable

I'm looking forward to the day that we can retire this thread and have a new pinned thread for deliveries. Anxious to see everyone's cars! :)
At the current rate, the thread is projected to self-retire in around 2026.

Id be happy with just knowing overall production for US market and if my dealer can deliver on my order by end of Q1 next year. Its really really simple. This is not rocket science fellers.

From a dealer perspective, I'm not sure that will work.

First, these dealers are only speculating on the arrival of the car. Honda delays vehicles all the time.

Talked to a dealer today that wouldn’t tell me their allocations but was willing to take a deposit of $5000 minimum to enter a lottery to get a chance to purchase one…why the hell should I give them that much when everyone else is accepting $1000 and is willing to share the allocation numbers. That’s like 5 deposits I could do elsewhere lol.

They don't know what they are getting.

In Canada each dealer knows what their allocation is already. Not sure what’s going to happen in the US
This is actually not true. I have a inside source @ Honda Canada who works on the Production & Sales Allocation team. There are GM's being told by their territory managers what their ESTIMATED allocations will be. I've heard most delaers are being told a range from 0-5 across 3 years of production EACH year. It is 100% confirmed for Canada 3 year production, 550 units total.

However, the production allocations team hasn't been told BY the Canadian sales team HOW to allocate units to dealers. So as of RIGHT now dealers are speculating. HQ has NOT I repeat has NOT allocated anything to dealerships, let alone HOW its being distributed via lotto, allocation or online drop etc.

Things are changing on a day-to-day basis, I keep getting different sets of "news" from dealers. But at the HQ level, NOTHING has been set in stone. yet.

One thing I CAN confirm is if your deposit hasn't gone through the Honda Canada STRIPE deposit system, your deposit ISNT official. Honda Canada is using the stripe allocation method to match deposits to the person who will take ownership to bypass dealership fuckery.

I see. I'm a dumb American... I thought it all revolved around us. You'll have to forgive me.
