Just to confirm what you did, you:

1. Pulled out the stick and wiped the oil off.
2. Put the stick back in.
3. Pulled it out and held it horizontally.

If so, then the oil level looks like it's at the top of the range. Don't worry about it.
This is cold engine measurement

The cold case actually looks slightly overfilled and above the upper hole. Not enough to matter though. So I think you're good. The oil is actually allowed to be anywhere between the two holes although we car guys always shoot for the top hole.

It's typically lower on a hot or warm engine because at that point a lot of the oil is actually inside the engine and not just resting in the oil pan.

You're right, what do you think about the measurement I made on a warm engine? Is it normal?

Yes I would not be concerned at all.

If anything, it is slightly overfilled.
I like my thin wet line to be near the top hole, and not above. An overfilled engine is more apt to force oil out of seals. Will it? I don’t know.

Checking the oil level is best when cold (although not always possible and not mandatory ) since all of the oil that can return from the top end, has done so.

I overfilled mine a bit, and didn’t drive it until I bought one of those 10 dollar syringes with a tube that fits down the dipstick hole. Came from Amazon the next day. Was easier for me, than to go back up ramps and crack the drain plug, make a mess, etc.

This is just my opinion, so you do you. Honda didn’t do any of us a favor with this orange colored bead on the dipstick. Old school metal blade with two lines/holes for the fill range would’ve been too easy I suppose?

Thanks everyone. You said my hot and cold engine checks were normal. I'm done worrying.

Hot levels should be higher than cold (thermal expansion and what not). So if it's higher cold than hot, I suggest you remeasure to be sure.

I do the test ; hot or cold , oil level is the same with 0-20 synthetic oil.
Perhaps with ordinary, thicker oil, you would have to wait for it to settle in the pan.

looks good to me. hard to check it when it's hot because the oil thins out and tends to run down the dipstick before you can check the level. it's fine as long as there's oil on the dipstick. I recommend checking it cold too, just for reassurance.

i know someone said levels should be higher when hot, but that's not what I've seen on mine. Oil level is always higher when i check it after sitting overnight.
