TC doesn't turn off brake vectoring. Im doing +R long press TC OFF for VSA Off. So the brake vectoring is still there. I thought braje vectoring was good for the car because it rotates it right?
I also use +R with long press and my rear calipers look normal.

yeah if it was the fronts I get it but the rears, they should not get hot to the point of melting the paint.

My guess is the pads are dragging, Id investigate that.

Nice lap Rex. How many hot laps do you run per session at that kind of event? You are killing me in The kink. I lost my “No Fear” attitude 20 years ago…..
Thanks! Typically I'll run a full session for the first session but then I'll cut it down to a few laps and once I start seeing times fall off on data I call it.

I managed to get up to 118mph min speed in the kink which is almost flat - down to 1:43.1, but still need a lot more to catch the Elantra N.

Recap from CMP Day 1:

1000019774.jpg

It's a fun track! Only did 2/3 sessions today due to a storm that rolled in but the car feels pretty good, although totally unoptimized for sure.

I managed a 1:45.2, which is definitely not where I want to be, but I'm reasonably close to the other Street FWD cars (1:44.4 - Elantra N, 1:45.0 - FK8 Type R), so we'll see how the rest of the weekend goes - the AWD cars are 1:39 - 1:41, and I don't think the car/me is ready to get there right now.

Here's my fastest lap so far. I think I can probably go flat through the kink on the back straight or at least close to it, but I checked up a bit on this lap (on the next lap I shifted to 5th and took it at 112mph min speed so way faster than this, but tires were cooked as it was late in the session so the overall lap wasn't faster).

I think the car is pushing a bit and delaying my exit (although some of that is probably just FWD things), so I stiffened the rear bar by 2 settings (out of 7 total) and we'll try that tomorrow. I plan to also try +R mode at some point now that I don't have to fight the stock shocks, although the magic rear vectoring may not do much.
great driving so far!! I cut this clip for you. Keep it up. Also that EN driver I think is more pro than amateur, and in general the ENs are just usually faster in track trim. So keep going as best as you can while figuring out the car.

Also you're ahead of the Acuity FK8 which has every mod that they can outside of opening up the engine. So keep it up!!

Shouldn't be nuking the rears like that
Put chocks on the front tires, then disengage the e-brake, and lift the rear up and see if the wheel spins freely.
Didn't see this till now. It could be the brake vectoring. Yesterday I got a ton of seat time since I had the whole track to myself. I did do cooldown laps.

Today there were more people and I had to leave early but I made sure keep checking and the calipers didn't get any worse

I'll lift up the rear and check though

+R with long press kills most of it. It's not normal. How brake heavy is this track?

Tbh I'm not really sure because this is really the only track I've been too and I don't have a reference.

During the drivers meeting they do say that if you pit you'll need to drive around the long way to cool off the brakes so its probably heavy on the brakes. There aren't alot of straights and they are short

Day 2 update - here it is! 1:43.1 with 118mph min over the kink:

I found some more time in session 3 in some spots and I couldn't make the whole lap faster - I'm still chasing understeer issues but I seem to be moving in a good direction - we'll see how tomorrow goes!

I noticed that you left it in 4th for turn 8 today. I meant to try that but habit kicked in….

What data system are you using? I’d love to be able to overlay your lap with my Aim data file.

Yep, I felt like I could roll more speed with 4th in 8 and save a shift, and data supported it - I also started rolling 4th in T4 and carrying that through the subsequent corner complex (I did this in session 3, video is session 2) - I lost no time and as soon as I hit the shift point from 3->4 on previous laps I just pulled away on data since I saved the shift going into T8. So, I went from 4->3->4->5->3->4 to 4--->5->4.

I set my fast lap at Road Atlanta in my M3 leaving it in 4th from T1 all the way to T7. Sounded and felt slower, but the data said otherwise. I was over slowing to make the extra downshifts. And that car didn’t have turbo torque….
