Hey Everyone,

I am curious to see if anyone else is having paint chipping and or peeling issues anywhere on their Type R.

I have issues on both my side mirrors and was wondering if anyone was able to get their dealership to fix it or warranty it from Honda directly.

I am coming up on 1 year of Ownership at the end of this month, car only has 2,5xx miles on it, not daily driven, weekly hand washes only and PPF & Ceramic Coated.

Any Advice would be appreciated !

No paint issues that I have noticed. As for your caps, they are super cheap to replace. Or, you could go with CF to cover or replace.

Was looking into replacing just annoyed because ima have to drive an hour away to the shop to get it PPF’d and pay out of pocket

I don't think those mirrors are even painted, it's just black plastic, right?

It kinda just looks like the PPF is lifting/peeling at the edges on your current mirrors?

I have a little tiny bit of paint chipping on the bumper where the sharp corner of the headlight rubs on. Iffy fitment. Hard to see at least and I will probably just touch it up when I remove the bumper some day.
But yeah paint on this car is made of butter

That’s what I thought also but i think they are painted because it’s white under and the previous generation had them painted as well (color matched tho)

I’ll contact my guy at the dealership and see what he says or maybe I can hit up my PPF guy and see if he can just pull it off and just wrap them in the same color cuz I hate seeing it when I get in the car.

I swear it's just the PPF you already had applied peeling/lifting. Your PPF guy should fix it under warranty.

It’s hard to tell in the pics, but yeah, it is normal practice to use gloss black ppf on gloss black parts. I’m with you ; I bet it is ppf peeling.

Tons of stone chips in mine. Our roads are sealed regularily using the chipseal method in Australia. So it's a layer of tar with loose gravel pressed in. So basically for 3 months it's like driving on loose gravel with stone flying everywhere. So damn annoying.

I bought touch paint to fix a chip on the rear bumper I got when I was parallel parking. Misjudged the distance to a Mercedes with a brush guard. Just applying the touch up paint made more paint flake off the chipped area. Paint is very thin. I will need to get bumper cover resprayed.

That's where PPF would really help.

Damn. I’m just about to touch up the stone chips in my front bumper and fender.
