So I just got my upgraded R660 AS today, which means I’ll need some supporting mods so I don’t stress out the fuel system for my FL5. In regard to fuel pumps, I’ve heard great things about Full Race’s new HPFP which pushes 68% more fuel compared to OEM. Probably because it also comes with a HUGE high pressure line opening that beats even “professionally” drilled lines out there. Though I’ve never heard of Nostrum High Performance, anyone satisfied and/or experienced any problems with your Full Race HPFP so far?

I’ve also been looking at XDI’s upcoming HPFP60 for the Type R’s (assuming they want to compete with Full Race’s offering) which is currently up for pre-order on their website. They state that the HPFP60 has a 63% increase capacity over OEM. But price is $300 more when compared to Full Race’s $1,999, going at $2,299 retail. Interesting to hear that Instead of a stainless steel high pressure line, they are going with a soft line to replace the OEM hard line restriction, stating that it makes installation easier due to its semi-flexible nature (Rated to 6,000 PSI). XDI HPFP60 also has a higher capable bar rating at 260 compared to 250 of Full Race, and was tested at a higher RPM at 10,000 on a 4.0mm lobe. For geometric volume, 1.66cc / rev > +63% capacity with 4.0mm lobe (27% more over XDI’s EVO). And 2.08cc / rev > +104% capacity on 5.0mm lobe (34% more over XDI’s EVO). I wonder how these two HPFP’s will compare once it’s released. For those currently running XDI HPFP’s or even their injectors, has it been reliable regardless of what you throw at it?

While snooping on XDI’s page, it was interesting to see that their 2500cc injectors (+115% flow over OEM) are available for purchase too. I assume those will probably be a BIG learning curve for tuners, since the 2000cc was quite difficult to tune when it was released back then. Though XDI didn’t state whether Hondata or MoTeC was used for their testing, i’ve heard that the 2500cc is possible on Hondata. K20C1 has been out for a while and I’m amazed the aftermarket support is still going strong after all these years!

I'd go with xdi simply because imo full race has terrible customer service.
I'll probably sell my hpfp and get xdi as long as it integration with hondata is seamless.

Interesting.. From what I hear, XDI has great customer service no matter what the problem is. Also heard they’re very good about the warranty on their pumps if one fails.

Sounds to me like you favor the XDI! The flexible line makes me a bit nervous without being able to see what it looks like.

In our eyes the Full Race pump is the new king. While it is still somewhat new to the market, Nostrum is highly experienced and well respected in this area. We have many customers using the pump as well as some of our industry partners and everyone has been very pleased with it. I get this question a lot and what I always tell people is that if I were completing a new build today I would go with the Full Race pump and the Hondata 1530cc injectors.

All that being said, fresh competition is always welcome to the market. XDI has been a good partner and we look forward to learning more about the HPFP60 as it comes to market.

That aside, what are your power goals @nattypiso?

Just trying to build something reminiscent of old school high reving Hondas, since these K20C1’s don’t really have that experience from factory lol. But power wise, would like push my FL5 to around a nice 500-550HP while trying to keep torque at a conservative 450 or lower. I know the clutch can handle more, but trying to stay stock as long as I can before I need to upgrade. Car is already fun but I’m itching to have little bit more power.

Looking to pair this with Hondata’s new 1530cc injectors over XDI’s 2000cc. I don’t know much about injectors in general, but I feel like quality of atomization is more important over fuel volume.

I have posted on this to great extent.

The combo is Full race pump and Hondata 1530cc injectors. No combo will beat that.

The Full Race HPFP is the one to go with. Nostrum might seem like a new company but they’ve been around. They’ve only just got into the CTR game. I can’t speak for the XDi pump but the Full Race pump is actually based on an OEM HPFP for German cars that make more factory horsepower than the CTR. If it’s good enough to be OEM equipment then its reliability must be solid.

@TSP,

Do you still favor the Full Race vs the existing competitors? Also, do you have names to recommend companies in the Northeast that can help me getting a custom tune should I decided to go for one of these upgrades?

As already mentioned from TSP, Drob from IMW is able to give you a custom tune, he’s my tuner as well. I drove up to him for a custom calibration and dyno and he was able to get 571 HP and 454 TQ on a E45 blend. So far, the car It has over 6000 miles and no complaints! Nothing but pure fun out on the streets.
