I know right! I'm so pumped to get it tuned. Reached out to drob and he stated the same thing. Said he'll crack the ECU for me. Had hernia surgery three weeks ago so I had to take off of work for two weeks. Waiting for my checks to go back to normal then I'll be getting it cracked and starting to get things together on this. I'd love to test the unreleased by the way. ;)
Well the unreleased flex fuel kit is up to Hondata. I have no relationship with them aside tuning their products.

Hope for a speedy recovery!

Finally, got all my parts installed on the 23 ctr. Hvi prl intake with intake pipes, 27 won kuro turbo and high flow cat. converter, prl intercooler and charge pipes, prl flex fuel sensor, hondata lpfp, hpfp, 1330cc injectors, and ots hondata tune. Now, waiting for july 18th when i take my ctr in at Modified by KC to get a pro tune and make the pcm recognize the prl flex fuel sensor/ethanol readings. Should be picking up some good hp and have not done a dyno yet. I'll post a dyno graph to see what my gains are.

Fyi, that intake is kind of a bitch to get off for injector replacement compared to any of the toyota's i work on for a living. What dumb engineer designed loose speed nut style on the intake for the throttle body to bolt to? Front one fell out and a pain to line up. Just make them molded into the intake.

That PRL flex fuel kit won’t work with the FL5, be careful if you did unplug the ECT 2 sensor for it.

The company had tuned other type r's before here in kc with other makes as such and said they can tune it for flex fuel compatible. I guess, i can just tune it for 93 pump gas if you think they'll damage the engine by trying to do so.

On the FK8’s the flex fuel system works. But in FL5’s it doesn’t. And it never will, Hondata is coming out with their own flex fuel kit with a CAN BUS integration and not using oem sensors to get a signal.

Thanks for the input and possibly saving my engine. I don't know why prl is selling the flex fuel kit reader and saying it'll work on 23+ fl5 platform when it won't. I'll tune it for 93 with all my bolt ons and see where it gets me. I don't want to have to perform ethanol fuel samples at every fill up for a specific ethanol tune. Is there no eta for hondata's flex fuel system?

No ETA as of yet, and PRL just rehashed the FK8 system thinking that Hondata was going to use the same approach and they are not going down that route.

And happy to help!

Well initial results are in but do have to give some back ground so you can have a fair assessment. Full race pump was installed and settings updated but no changes in fueling, timing or boost requests.

Initial impression is that I have to adjust some things because the full race dumped a bunch of fuel on spool up but will take care of that. It hit a maximum of around 60% even dumping so much fuel that it caused a mid 10’s afr.

The XDI pump had the disadvantage of running a stock sized fuel pressure line. With the fuel line mod it should drop around 10% of duty across the board.

XDI with stock fuel line, modded fuel line will drop pump duty about 10%

Now full race, the difference is borderline comical.

It is not even funny how much the pump flows, also way better control than the XDI on oscillations. I mitigated the XDI ones pretty good but the full race required no adjustments.

Install is a little tricky of you do decide to install yourself. Cam needs to be completely flat and the bucket needs to be in the right position and on the guide rail.

The part that drives me nuts is the fact that I literally just had the engine out, and it would have been 100 times easier than in the car.

Absolutely, but oh well they came a little too late with the product to save you. Same thing happened to me.
