Hey everybody. So the new 275/35–19 vredestein hypertrac ultra high performance all season tires came in today.

These things look massive! Which I have found over the years that the Vredestein rubber just looks beefy. Which is exactly what I’m looking for. I do have a before picture so when I get this done, I will take another shot and post here. But this is the tire. These things are epic, on the TLX Type S, in the snow, dry, and for touring. The only problem is they don’t make the right size for my 18 inch wheels so I did reach out to them about potentially getting something else made. Not interested in any other brand for the most part lol

By the way, see how the inside almost half of the tire is serrated like a snow tire? That’s what makes these things wicked in the weather. Trust me on this one.

Zooming into the tread. Seems like it’ll do very well in light snow.

It does well in ANY snow! I've been in 14" with that car and it put my RDX to shame. Until I got the Vredestein Quadtrac pro on this fall....but the TLX STILL did better for some reason.

The wheels are reverse mount but it’s not labeled on the barrel

maybe they tried and immediately saw they were gonna mess the wheel up and just gave up?

I think it’s not labeled on the barrel because it’s flowformed. Allegedly. I’ve no idea if the wheels really are flow formed.

Oddly enough there are some dealerships that can't take off the FL5 tires.

When you go to the tire shop, walk the service person around your car and make sure they notice there is no damage to the wheels. Take pictures as well. Make sure they know it's a huge ass wheel with special mounting properties- you really do have to spell it out for some of these people as these places routinely damage FK8 and FL5 wheels.

Are the Integra Type S wheels also reverse mounted like the FL5?

I did this and even talked to the technicians, they still managed to leave a white strip around 1/6 of my wheel. I got about $900 out of them for the mistake. Time to get some touch up paint...

Yeah, it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen
For the type s? Yes but for the type r, the track focused variant? I feel like it’s warranted imo. Nice advantages going reverse mount on a tracked vehicle

I am with U tho. Kinda weird. Plus, why not just stamp REVERSE MOUNT somewhere on the lip or inner edge of the barrel?!

I was googling and researching earlier today. Are the fl5 and de5 wheels flow formed?

I ask because the wheel weight seems suspiciously light for a 19x9x5

about half of the sources online state they are and the other half say they aren’t with Google ai giving me both options depending on how I phrase the question.

besides the weight being a tip. I also have two more clues that make me believe they are flow formed

1) the edge of the barrel isn’t stamped with a reverse mount warning. Can’t do that on a flow formed barrel

2) in Denver I hit a mega pot hole. Blew out my continental tires in the front. Both of them. Both tires popped right at the sidewall. Yet both wheels didn’t bend at all. On low speed and high speed balancing machine. With new tires on. They balanced perfectly. At s point, front alignment was perfect and including my eyes. 5 sets of eyes have called both wheels “not bent”

The dealer techs at my Acura dealer ruined two tires before they figured it out.

I feel quite confident claiming they are flow formed- but I don't have the energy to go and find validation for you. Someone on the Integra forums did this legwork and verified they are indeed flow-formed wheels made by Enkei. The Integra Type S at least, but I have little doubt the FL5 wheels would be any different.

That said, I've already bought two sets of forged aftermarket wheels and my OEM wheels are relegated to winter duty so YMMV on the value of this information.

I was more thinking it’s the dumbest thing ever that they didn’t know this lol
