Hey all, I was installing some mesh for the fender vents and I accidentally scrapped off some paint with my flat head. Not too worried about the aesthetics, but more worried if should do something to prevent potential rust. The question I have is if this panel would even rust and if I have anything to worry about. Got scrapped down to the panel itself and can see some metal, but I heard that its aluminum?

Stripped off the paint where the dot is drawn.

Did the magnet test and it seems like that vent/fender portion is probably aluminum since it didnt stick. Interestingly the front fender stuck (alongside with the doors) which probably means it some kind of steel.

Probably just gonna let it be and not even bother with a touch up coating

That part is plastic -- it's part of the lower side vent/flare/rocker panel. I would have thought it was obvious it wasn't metal just by the feel. But another dead giveaway is that it could only be a molded part -- they could never make that one large continuous part with a metal stamping due to the complex shape.
