So I actually don’t hear that wastegate rattle sound on my car..yet lol…one noise I hear on the OP’s video is a noticeable buzzing as he accelerates. The buzzing then goes away the second he lets off the gas. Immediately comes back as soon as he’s back on throttle.

ive heard this buzzing driving my car also and couldn’t figure out what it was until his video! Is that buzzing the fuel injectors?!? It sounds like it in the video and that’s crazy lol I’ve had numerous DI cars in the past and you can always hear a noticeably louder ticking at idle but never heard the rapid buzzing sound while driving…can anyone confirm that buzzing sound on throttle is the injectors? Would just clear up this sound for me

Yeah the valvetrain is extra noisy in this video because the microphone is right next to the valve cover. The noise is accentuated heavily in the video but essentially all the noise you're hearing that isn't the wastegate noise is the valvetrain.

Some cars just have noisy valvetrains; the K20C1 is pretty bad but I've heard worse. Porsche engines are insanely noisy, for example... the 2.5L turbo flat 4 in the 718 for example sounds like sewing machine at idle.

appreciate it! Is that buzzing I’m referring to specially the fuel injectors or just valve train sound in general?

My guess is a little bit of everything. Injectors have a distinctive "tick" sound, but the rest of the valvetrain is just a conglomeration of rotating metal pieces effectively crashing into each other constantly at high speed with just a thin layer of oil to separate them...

Since the mic in the video is directly in the engine bay, it sounds egregious lol. I should note that your car should definitely not sound like that from inside the cabin. If it does, immediately check your oil level and/or get it to the dealer?! Only a small fraction of that rattling/ticking/buzzing should make its way into the cabin. But especially in situations like pulling into your garage with the windows down, it becomes especially noticeable.

When my car would make this wastegate noise, I could feel it in the pedal and even moderately loud music couldn't drown it out. I swear it's gotten much better.

alright cool. Yeah car definitely does not sound like that inside the cabin. I can just hear that audible buzzing if I don’t have any music on and it was interesting. Even with music at a low volume it’ll down out that sound so it’s not concerning to me.

Ha, I totally know the buzz you’re talking about. I noticed that early on. Buzz is the only way to describe it. It’s only annoying because it sounds like a sound a turd car would make haha. Pretty sure it’s just the injectors. Usually that’s only noticeable around idle, not low-mid speed like that.

I have this same buzzing, especially noticeable on the gas going slow 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. I get the rattle on decel too but this one is while i give it light throttle. Thought my car was broken-guess it just needs an exhaust.

i only really noticed the ringing/key jingle noise when decelerating at low speeds with the window down. Now i can hear another rattle/grind at 75-90% throttle a little over 3k rpms on my Si. I think it's just the wastegate...hopefully

I've only heard it once, and that was after swapping turbos. It did in on initial startup, but hasn't done it since.

Can you check if the noise is more pronounced in "comfort" mode? With relaxed driving... in "Flanders" mode, after several miles, +R mode, on a hot day (almost 40°C), the noise hasn't reappeared...
