So do we think that the high KControl values are related to the latest KTuner update, the tune, or the fact that some users may be running on EX-T's vs SI's ( which seem to have higher KControl values)?

There are a LOT of these files in the wild right now, and the vast majority of users are reporting 0.49-0.69 KControl on 91-93oct (91 users obviously reporting the higher end). The user above has something awry in his case unrelated to the calibration (since he reports a steep rise on the very soft starter calibrations, as he stated in his first post here). If you see hard movement on the stock file or the KTuner starter files, this tune will not fix it.

The update of firmware/software doesn't have any bearing on Knock Control value.

The TSP Stage 1 cannot be loaded to an EX-T/Sport/etc. It can only be uploaded to a 5AM-A0x or 5AM-C0x ECU variant.

Exactly where I was at for KC values previously. Why I'm puzzled with the massive spikes now.

It was overnight on the same tank of gas that I saw a slight KC bump, just happened to coincide with the OTF updates. Have nothing else i can think of that changed.

Nothin moving that vast until last night. Have never seen over 0.80ish spikes previously.

Not sure what's going on. Wish I had a Honda service manual so I could look into the system alittle more.

I can't find 93 octane in Kansas anymore, have to drive 2 hours to Missouri or wait till VP Fuels opens up tommorow. Have a feeling something else is going on besides gas. Shell does sell 91 V-Power here and what's in the car now.

Hopefully I'll be able to get some datalogs or see if the unit recorded last night's runs. I enabled KTuners datalogging on TunerView but can't find a file, hoping it's on the unit?

This tune was advertised to be used with 93 octane fuel only yet there are some talking about KC but using 91........if I didn't have the proper fuel available to me I would not order this tune, I use 93 all the time but not the top tier brand, I have this tune BUT WILL NOT upload it until this tank is done and I can switch to Shell VPower Nitro+ 93 and convert my PRL SRI to full Cobra CAI like was stated in the tunes description. I know they say stock is fine but to mention a specific CAI should tell us all something, also saying minimum 93 octane should also tell us something. All done, thanks.

OK just read it again and it does say 91 or 93 but if KC is high I would only use 93, wish Sunoco still had Ultra94!!!!!

Believe something else is going on other than gas, have had no issues with 91. One of the reason I went for this tune, is because it advertised 91 and I was prepared for slightly higher KC but nothing like this!

I went from perfect 0.50-0.60 numbers for months looking at my datalogging.....I have alot on the 19.5/23 map.

I even found the exact moment went it jumped to 0.70 range on 7/07/18 when I got the new update flashed. Had an error connecting with my KTuner so I was stock for about a week while KTuner got a new unit out to me.

Got my laptop setup to make some KTuner datalogs, guess will see off to drive!

91/93 octane are both fine, nothing less. The only intake requirement is that you have a good one that keeps your fuel trims in check. Stock is fine. The PRL Cobra is great and will offer more power. Short Ram is fine but CAI will certainly offer more power.

For anyone wondering, tunes are sent in batches every few hours during business days and typically once a day on the weekend.

I posted about the 91/93 right after this quoted post, and thanks for confirming about the intake. The fuel issue may not just be octane but the overall quality of the fuel, most reputable tuners will always use top tier fuel to extract the most power from their work. So 93 octane at the corner mart will not be as good as Mobile, Shell, Sunoco etc

Interesting results in the perfect 83F weather.

Turned the car on and started datalogging with KTuner & TunerView as backup. KControl was at 1.05 when I started datalogging.

Took a 10-15 highway spin out to a very nice high speed road with lots of corners. KControl went all the way down to 0.51 before I turned onto the road.
Lots of 2nd, 3rd, & into 4th gear pulls into and out of corners with 5th & 6th to cruise between corners/stretches. KControl stayed in the 0.60-0.67 range.
With sport mode on and a few high speed pulls into 4th I saw a max of 0.76 KControl. That was with about 6-7 back to back pulls through corners.

Started getting close to the city so I dropped the map to #2 with the OTF switching & started driving like I stole it! Throttle response is meh and lots of lag unfortunately.
And numbers started dropping like a rock all the way to 0.57 KControl, turned Sport mode on and kept doing back to back pulls.....the car just sat right at 0.66 KControl.
Then of course I was pulling so hard it pulled out the 12V connector for the converter I'm using for my laptop charger and I lost the datalog when the PC went into low battery mode.....Beyond pissed!

Just my luck! But TunerView captured the entire run fortunately so see the changes.

Started a new datalog 5-10 miles from the house on map on #2 and left the car in Sport mode. Boosting the whole way home just giving it hell and I ended the run at 0.63 KControl. It just kept dropping with almost every pull on map #2 with Shell V-Power 91 Octane.

So happy about the results but wondering why map #3 isn't working well.

I pull into my garage and hear a rattle/squeaking noise which I've never heard before...pop the hood and the damn sensor on top of the motor with the foam all round next to the air by pass system is making the noise.
I need to verify with a diagram what that sensor/part is.

Possibly the 14780-5A2-A01
Lifter Comp,Pump
so hot I can't inspect it. Noise was gone when I went out to check again.

I'll send ya over what I have man!

@CrippleRipple your values today are much more in line with what I expect to see from the calibration with lower quality fuels.

You'll see higher values on map 3 "Sport" mode simply because it's the most aggressive portion of the file (the most boost). If you saw a maximum of 0.76 with lots of back to back WOT use on 91oct, that's definitely in the neighborhood of normality.

Send what you have over and I'll have a look when I'm back at work tomorrow/Tuesday depending on where the email sits in my queue.

It sure looks like you've got a real sensitive knock sensor at this point (not a bad thing from a safety standpoint), just kind of a buzzkill for performance use.

I'd still like to see what some high-quality fuel does before I recommend a physical replacement of the sensor.
