Time for Type R - Casio

Man this friggin watch has been just as hard to get as the car especially here in Canada...

I'm honestly surprised by how they're seemingly sold out everywhere, and eBay prices for them are astronomical. Granted, list price and sale price are two different things, but I don't even think the watch is numbered, just a "limited edition".

Are people actually going to wear this thing?

The dealer in Calgary told me there's only 200 but that can't be right...

Eh... I suppose it's possible. MSTR did a "limited edition" Type-R watch with a run of ~250... then another... and another.. and a spinoff version... then a different color... and a splnoff of that one... so "limited" isn't always what it seems.

Ya during covid I went down the watch community yt rabbit hole and learned that quickly...there's a special or limited edition of everything every week ...

Looks like you’re probably subject to a 5% duty up in Canada. In the US, there’s no duty on imports below $800 (for personal use items). You should reroute the watch to me to avoid any duty.?

Interesting, didn't know that. We normally have to be out of the country for three days to bring back $800 worth duty free...

I put the Mugen watch in my cart last night and saw it’s free shipping for items above $300. This morning I got the email for 5% off. I looked at the store listed in the email and googled the directory for the mall. It looks legit to me. I’ve only been to Singapore once but there’s like a gazillion malls according to my friend that lives there.
As for the Type R watch. I’ve been wearing it here and there. My complaints are the strap or the non existent aftermarket strap option. Also the negative display makes the digital parts of the watch incredibly hard to read. Lastly the backlight stays on way too short. But for the price at retail, not bad. My first solar watch as most of my watches are mechanical.

I ordered one from Vincent Watch and did some checking before I did so. Got an email receipt right away with a follow up shipping and tracking email the next day. Will report back when the watch arrives. I have been a LCD watch collector since the early 90's and Casio watches are my favorites ......... ;-)

So, I got the watch today, super fast delivery. Did unfortunately get hit with 90 cdn dollars duty, but still much better than eBay where one just sold for 850 euros. Now I'm just waiting on my car hopefully in March or April...

It appears the watch has Bluetooth. You should be able to adjust things, like the backlight timer, via the app.

Thanks man. I have another gshock with Bluetooth and only done time synchronization. Didn’t know I can adjust the lighting. Well now it’s 3 seconds.

Tried to find the Type R Edfice in Tokyo and didn't have much luck....I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for the update email...

I was inTokyo in early November when it was released in Japan. Hit up every available Casio retailer who told me they were all sold out via pre sale.
