I have some data comparisons between me and a GTI. The GTI has a DCT and a tune, and you could see in the data on the back straight where I lose .01 of a second between shifts in comparison to him. DCT's are no joke.Nice - that's pretty in-line with the tuned Elantra N then, so tuned I'd expect the Type R to be right with it if not faster (it should put down a lot more power than a tuned Elantra N from what I can tell, but would need to shift a few times).
0.01s? Is that the correct spot for the decimal? If so, you're shifting pretty fast I'd think.I have some data comparisons between me and a GTI. I had hopes of going against him this year but it's not looking good for me either. Honda vs Hyundai gonna have to wait. I was excited when I read @J1Avs brake setup thread but then i looked at the pricing. Why does the Miata have to be so much cheaper?!?I had hopes for one of the WDCR drivers, but unfortunately TT is no longer in his cards.
wrong spot for the decimal. It was .10.01s? Is that the correct spot for the decimal? If so, you're shifting pretty fast I'd think.![]()
And you can go to cars and coffee with your gold chains and track suit on Sunday mornings. It really is a special car, especially for the price...too bad it'll be marked up to fuh-get about it price.
1:47 at VIR full course and records on Road Atlanta, Road America and Watkins, impressive stuff
Yes, that makes more sense.wrong spot for the decimal. It was .1
As an ex-C5Z owner (used) even the C8Z feels a bit unobtainable, and not sure it will ever make sense economically for me - not sure if I want to own it out of warranty and tracking something that expensive would be a hard sell for me even with insurance. Even before markups the ZR1 is on a whole other level (and the price exceeds coverage limits for some of the track day insurance groups, if not all). Even C7GS's were holding higher than my interest points last I checked. And you can go to cars and coffee with your gold chains and track suit on Sunday mornings. I have no use for a car that fast everyday. I'd much rather keep my practical daily, and if I had extra pick a dedicated track platform. That would be the plan in the next 5ish years once the kiddos could have a better time at the track. As an ex-C5Z owner (used) even the C8Z feels a bit unobtainable, and not sure it will ever make sense economically for me - not sure if I want to own it out of warranty and tracking something that expensive would be a hard sell for me even with insurance. Yep, that's kind of what I'm getting at - the C5Z I had was a reliable comfortable weekend / track car (although mostly autocross at that time), and back in 2016 it was a $25k car with 30k mi in great condition, but this newer stuff requires way too much money wrapped up into a toy, at least to me. A customer of mine is supposedly first on the list at his dealer for a new ZR1. He usually drops his cars off and says to go have fun. I'm pretty excited to do the oil changes lol.
Haha. Only 900hp lol
