Hi,

Anyone know what the market is like in Texas (particularly Austin metro)? I see one dealer has 5 Typer Rs on their lot, but they don't seem to want to move off mark up. I'm hoping for MSRP obviously, but wondering what experiences folks have had.
I’m in the Temple area and the market in central Texas is terrible. I purchased my RR CTR in Mississippi for $500 under MSRP. Look there and Louisiana. Better deals to be had over there.

Here in the Clearwater Fl area, one dealer has 2 Type R's and have too much junk added to them and 5k ADM. Let them sit and rot IMO

I’m in the central Texas area and it took some work to get an FL5 at MSRP. I drove to Arlington for mine, just purchased this past Saturday.

I know exactly what dealership you’re talking about that has 5 on the lot (3 CW and 2 BB). I was able to get them down to $2.5K ADM but they lowballed on the trade in. I think that was there way of making up for the ADM hit.

skrockij89 is accurate, Louisiana dealerships were selling at MSRP. There are a couple in Texas that are selling at MSRP for FL5s that are pending delivery. What color are you looking for?

That’s when you tell the dealer, if you’re keen on making the sales, then let me get the deal on one end. If you’re trying to fvck me on both ends of the deal, go find another sucker.

That’s what I did when I traded in my 21 FK8 for my FL5. The dealer started at 10k markup when I said what I can accept is starting at 5k. They gave me a good deal on my trade-in which told me they wanted to move the car.

If anything just go find another dealership.

Yep! I agree. I just skipped to the part of taking my money elsewhere. The place I bought from started at MSRP and beat CarMax’s value (without them knowing the CarMax value). As a result, they will get more business from me in the future. It just took me a good amount of work to find them with multiple conversations with other dealerships.

Vandergriff Honda, Arlington, TX is where I ended up buying it. Other dealerships need to be striving to be like them. Too few good dealerships out there now.

Thanks, all. I will keep looking. Not in a hurry, but it'd be nice to get a fun car soon that is also practical (the S2000 does not fit that bill). Hopefully it will be worth it since I will likely buy without being able to test drive first.

that’s pretty cool vandergriff in feb/march of this year were horrible wouldn’t let me test drive and wouldn’t budge on their ADM at all. They had a black one there forever and their Acura next to them were even worse lol. Tbh you must have gotten lucky bc I have heard that story from just about even one else that has tried to purchase from there. I ended up going to freeman where they charged me for some accessories 800$ and then gave me like 4-5k more for my trade than carmax or any other dealer i had been working deals with for the type r.

Definitely test drive first! Might be easier if you can find a used one to drive.

Damn, yeah does seem that I got lucky. May be due to 2025 models are starting to arrive at dealerships. I think they are reluctant to let anyone test drive these, mine had 5 miles on it; I don’t fault them for that approach. There is something special knowing I’m the first to put true miles on a vehicle.

I’m glad you were able to get a good deal brother!!! I despise these ADMs with a passion.

In the Bay Area, many dealers are asking for $10K above MSRP, so I’ve decided to explore used options for a Type R instead. I’m considering a 2023 model with 7,000 miles priced at $47,000. Does that seem too high? I’ve noticed similar prices on CarMax, so I’m wondering if this is the norm in the Bay Area.

So you want to pay above MSRP for a used example with 7k miles that's likely ragged out? Of course that's too high. Go out of state and pay MSRP. If I'm being honest you should be able to find one below MSRP if you look hard enough.

Clark Kent on the money once again.

Its crazy to me that someone would even consider this.

I would rather just not have the car

To save time for some folks who are searching in the DMV area, these dealerships told me today they will not sell at msrp:
  • Bill Page Honda of Falls Church VA. (4900 mark up + other fees)
  • Jim Coleman Honda of Clarksville, MD (uknown mark up)
  • Honda of Greenbelt, MD
I got a guy at fredricksburg Honda (Va) that is willing to do MSRP if you're looking for one
