Been a while. Excuse my absence. Been over a month since I've posted in my PHLOG. Time for an update.

Where was I...?

Ahh, yes, Dallas.
So, I got home from Dallas, and had a few days back home before turning around and heading out of town again.
While I was in San Antonio one day, I let myself get lost while looking for the Army surplus store... and while turning into a parking lot for a U-Turn...

I ran almost right into a genuine JDM grocery store!

Awesome!

So cool. I picked up a few items, half of which I don't even recognize.
I'm sure I'll figure out how to eat them.

Sometimes it's good to leave the phone at the house and just explore the city a bit.
You never know what kinds of awesome places you may accidentally find.

Definitely gonna be going back to Minnano Japanese Grocery for some JDM goodies!

Sidestory, but semi relevant...

I spent about a week in Texas last year, exploring around Dallas to Waco to College Station. Work travel for training at the TEEX fire campus. And my first Buccee's experience...that was unreal in itself!

So, I enjoy reading your posts about traveling around Texas.

Also to bring back our comments earlier regarding the ITS shift knob, I also made the purchase and got one....and the matching ITS wheel

Luckily the knob was like-new used, and came as a package with knob, retaining nut, and shift boot collar (seller changed out to PRL units). It seems the retaining nut is shaped so that it will transition the ITS knob to the larger shift boot collar, as seen in your pics

Took a screen grab of the ITS nut:

This was just an initial impression of the parts I recieved. I've yet to install, and can report back after install. Hoping for time this weekend!

Lol! My boss just brought me back some "Beaver Nuggets" from Buccee's. They're disgusting!

This is cool as hell! What an odd thing to find in the middle of Texas though! I'm picturing the store owners wearing kimonos and ten gallon hats.

Yeah... not quite.
The owner, or the manager at least, was dressed pretty normally for America. She wore jeans and a nice casual button up shirt, IIRC.

That would be flippin awesome, though.

Silk kimono, cowboy boots, with spurs, of course, and a nice shiny belt buckle to bring it all together.

Then greet the customer with a friendly:

"Howdy, pah-too-nah. Wew-roo-come to a Minnano Japanese Goo-lo-celly!"

Heading from Morgantown (WVU) to College Station (Texas A&M) with my son (driving his minivan and a U-Haul trailer with all his stuff), exploring some historical sites and museums (he is a history major) along the route (Henry Clay Lexington KY, Clinton museum Little Rock AR, Bush museum Dallas TX). been in California for all of my adult life, and never been to these parts of the US, I find it very interesting.

You will have a great time! I envy you. I’ve driven across the country twice (a long time ago) and there’s so much to be experienced. Every state has its own unique character, and it’s all great. Enjoy!

Pics of the knob and nut.
Does this PRL collar / nut prevent the boot from rotating?
I put a zip tie inside the top of my shift boot and fastened it pretty tightly, thinking that would tighten the boot and keep it from moving, but there seems to be no difference from when there was no zip tie at all.
Is this why people buy these shift boot collars? To keep the crown of the boot locked in place?
... Or did I just put my zip tie in the wrong place, and need to reposition it?

I can’t speak on the PRL items, these are all OEM that came packaged in the previous owners PRL boxes. I did notice the boot does slightly swivel around, OEM FL5 collar with OEM DE5 retaining nut. I’d imagine that, with age and degradation, the FL5 will end up like my 2015 SI, collar will disintegrate and a metal upgrade will be next

August 2025.

MITA Motorsports FKS 18x9.0J ET +45 Hyper Silver wheels on Pirelli P Zero 275/45ZR18 tires!

Yes, I went there.

Why? Because I want an elevated and smooth touring style ride.

And, Because SCIENCE!

Sporky's mission:

"To explore strange new roads.
To seek out new ride heights and new elevations.
To boldly Unslam where no Type R has been Unslammed before."
