I tried installing my Uniden radar detector w/ Flushmount in the FL5 using an off-brand Mirrortap wiring cable like in the picture below.
11th Gen Honda Civic Radar Detector Install - Mirror Tap Issue 61VUQJPwjCL._AC_SX679_

I took a few of the trim pieces off behind and above the rear-view mirror to expose the camera module for the safety systems (lane departure, adaptive cruise, etc). There is an electrical plug with several wires going into it, including red and black wires. I installed the taps matching red-to-red and black-to-black but am not getting any power to the radar detector. I installed this same detector in my previous car using a similar setup without issue.

Anyone else run into issues trying to power a radar detector in this way?

This install I was attempting was basically the same thing shown in this THREAD in the very last post. They tapped into the same safety module wiring connector although the connector is oriented differently in the base Integra compared to the FL5. I am going to bust out the multimeter to see if I can troubleshoot some more but figured it was worth posting here.

I do not recall wire colors but we had no issues with a mirrortap kit on our FL5. Using your multimeter should clear things up for you.

Trying to do the exact same thing. Did you ever figure out what color wire to tap into?

I haven't tried again, was waiting to get my 2CH dash cam setup wrapped up and the blendmount I am trying to use for the radar detector was from my M2, so it isn't a perfect fit but it is really close (may try modifying it to get it to work better).

I will likely try to get power from the blue connector that is behind the map light plastic piece like is shown in this thread: https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threa...mirror-for-fl5-1-hr-install.51749/post-870061

@Bazgab did you ever figure out where to tap the radar detector in the mirror?

I did not yet. I haven't made it a priority but I am still figuring out a mounting solution for the blendmount from my previous car. I thought it would work ok but it ends up slipping out of place too easily to be relied on. Sucks that blendmount doesn't make something for the Type R currently.

I have started trying to make some prototype adapter pieces with my 3D printer to adapt my old blendmount to the Type R but version 1 was a failure. Once I figured that out I will get back to finding the tap location for the radar power.

I just got my radar detector. I’m looking to hard wire it. I can go down the a pillar to the fuse box, but if I can power it from an existing 12v switched power source closer to the mirror I would prefer to do that.
‘I’ve seen the instructions for the Integra, but the fl5 doesn’t have the auto dim mirror, so I don’t think those instructions apply.
was there ever any clarification as to which wire can be tapped into closer to the mirror?

I used this video as a guide and no issue wiring mine in with a mirror tap.

I used this mirror tap for my Uniden R8.

I will say this particular mirror tap kit is on the shorter side, so if you want to mount yours under the mirror, it may be too short.

I routed mine to the left of the mirror and as high as possible. I find it very functional and doesn't block vision on the center of the windshield as a mirror mount would (I had one in my previous car).

Thank you, I saw a similar video where he got power from that connector, but I wasn’t sure if it was 12v constant or switched. Is it weird that it turns on when the door is opened? I was hoping to find 12v switched in that area that powered on when the ignition is turned on. I’ll probably hook it up like in the video, and if I don't like it, go to the fuse box.
i already have the correct connector like in the video.
‘thanks again for the reply and help?

It likely turns on with the door due to it tapping into the dome light connector.

I haven’t had any issues with it staying on for too long, and it’s simpler to wire cleanly so I’ve been happy with it. I do have a dash cam hardwired to the fuse box.

I'm glad this thread resurfaced. I plan on doing this over the weekend. I bought 2 kits and one was the uniden with remote mute button. But I think it looks a little sloppy. Plan on using this method.

When tapping the white plug above the map lights it seems that it cuts power when the car is locked. Does anyone know how long power is supplied after leaving the car without locking the doors?
I don't have an answer exactly but I can tell you that I don't lock my car sometimes and have not had a problem
