Have no interest in the DP but wanted to know the fitment on the HB as the Honda part numbers are different. I'm just seeking a bit better flow and sound when I do a cat back and didn't want to use the extremely small diameter mid pipe off the OEM DP. PRL did mention before they were going to test for any gains from just this pipe for customers looking to go the route I am. Thanks for your concerns.

We still did not test just the front pipe by itself, but we have sold these to quite a few HB customers, including a local HB Sport that we just installed (pictures and video on our social media pages) last week. The OEM Honda part numbers are different for a HB, coupe and sedan for the A-Pipe (front pipe), but after doing a 3D scan with our FARO arm months ago, we found VERY minimal differences and made our kit work with all models.

The down/up combo is the same across SI/reg correct? Also are all parts needed for install included with combo purchase? And anyone with the catless is the sound too loud for you or just beefy? I've tried watching a few videos but I can't tell from the videos how aggressive the sound is.

I'm pretty sure the FP/DP are the same on the SI, but I'll defer to @PRL Motorsports to definitely answer. All parts you'll need come with the combo - gaskets, nuts bolts. I have the catless with a Magnaflow cat-back, and it sounds very beefy before the exhaust gasses get enough speed to flow freely through the mufflers. Then it sounds very tuner-ish. Here's what it sounds like with the stock cat back. Way more "muffled" than my exhaust sounds. Lots quieter.

Despite showing varying Honda part numbers, our downpipe and front pipe fit on all Civic 1.5T models including the EX, EX-T, Sport and Si. I don't think you'll find the combo with stock exhaust too loud by any means. There is a meaty rumble down low with a bit more noise everywhere, but nothing too loud and obnoxious. There are quite a few sound clips floating around.

(I just sent Spencer a follow-up email) I was able to basically re-work the install of the DP to allow the brackets to fit like they did from the factory. I can confirm that my issue was not due to a loose or bent heatshield- it was in fact the tight clearance of the front pipe under the engine that caused metal on metal grinding and vibrations when the engine lifts after applying throttle from a standstill.
Now, my front pipe has a bit more room to move, though the flex portion is still very compressed, and I was able to somehow shift the pipes such that the hanger isn't pulled as badly down and forward as it had been. No more bad sounds, and still no CEL after a few more hundred miles! Thanks for your customer support!
Interested in hearing in detail how you fixed this with PRL, I have those same sounds after just doing careless downpipe and up pipe, sounds iterating, not how my Si should would with 1500 miles..

Fitment with the 3" front pipe is very tight, especially near the oil pan. We suggest assembling everything and without tightening the bolts down until all fitment is as desired. This way flanges can be rotated if needed and flanges can be pulled as tightening. Feel free to give us a call or shoot any videos/pictures of said issue to [email protected].

When I installed the downpipes on my n54 I had everything loose and stuffed a chisel(could've used anything about 3/16 thick) in-between the pipe closest to the crossmember and said crossmember and didn't pull it till I cranked down all the bolts. If I didn't the pipe contacted the crossmember and rattled.

Appears I have a similar issue...was seeing if I was the only one. I assume I got my tightening sequence out of wack cause I didnt put the tranny brackets back on until after I test drove it smh. Will drop everything again and redo :(...

@PRL Motorsports I found the following description on your e-store:

Catted Downpipe + Front Pipe Gains WITHOUT Tuning:
  • 400 RPM increase in peak torque
  • 40+ hp and 50+ ft/lbs tq down low
  • 10 hp and 14 ft/lbs tq at peak
  • 10 hp and 14-20+ ft/lbs tq throughout mid-range/top

I'm assuming that these gains are for an EX-T CVT. Could you give me a rough idea as to what kind of gains that I can expect on an SI? I thought that I recalled seeing 15 hp quoted in your "Project Snow White" thread.

@maddmatt02 suggested a preventative measure I think is good. My former situation may not be the same as your current one, because i would never have called the sound emanating from under the body and hood "interesting."
for me, i did not hear the sound until after having already driven a few dozen mile. If you have the same issue I had, you need to loosen the connections at the turbo, between the dp and front pipe, and a bit between the exhaust and the front pipe if needed. I had to completely rework the positioning of the mounts that are involved where the dp.and front pipe connect. pay attention to the nylon hangers you swapped into the replacement pipes. They should allow for the whole length of securely connected pipe to have some very mild movement, but the hangers themselves should set well and not should not be excessively taut. You want to get the gaskets between the new pipes to look like they may pancake with any more tightening, while avoiding having the flex portion set into a very compressed state where it balloons and expands outward enough to contact the underside of the engine. When i went between the three sets of connections, the ones i tightened the rest of the way last were between the front pipe and stock exhaust.

if you're dead set on removing the dp to reposition everything, take the opportunity to wrap the pipe if you think there is even the chance you would want it wrapped in the future: All the going under, back, adjusting, tightening, etc. To readjust my pipes took longer than the original install and I would never want to touch that part of the car again.

At peak we saw 16 hp and 5 ft/lb tq through our catted downpipe combo, and another ~5+hp/5+tq from going catless with our Si. These results should be pretty consistent with any 6MT model 1.5T. The CVT transmittion in our EX-T allowed us to see major gains down low without a tune.
