I am interested to know if anyone has proof of real world gains from the PRL High Volume Intake "Plus" Duct (https://prlmotorsports.com/products...olume-plus-auxiliary-cold-air-intake-air-duct).
I am specifically looking for what the "Plus" Duct produces above and beyond the HVI itself.
Proof in the form of a Dyno chart is preferred.

I tried contacting PRL about this, but they were very unhelpful.

The only gain should be better IAT, but to be honest I don't think the difference would be noticeable imo.

That's what I thought.
They do claim in the description of the product that it provides increased airflow. This may mean performance gains, but I would like to see proof.

Colder IAT but the more beneficial part is more flow to the intake box. This will help on larger turbo application I believe.

I mean who wouldn't want colder air into the intake? Have you seen how small the slot for the grille intake is?

Just because it sounds like a good idea doesn't mean it results in any real world performance improvement

Well put it this way, the PRL HVI for the FL5 comes with one and it works wonderfully. They did do research and got cooler ambient temps being pulled away from the Engine heat in the bay.

Then there should be some proof to back up their claims. I contacted PRL and asked them for a dyno chart, and they said that they don't have one.
That leads me to think of one of the two possibilities:
1) They are lying and don't want to show that it doesn't do much
2) They really didn't test it, in which case who knows if it does anything.

I'm not saying they haven't tested it or that it makes any substantial changes, I just highly doubt it would increase the HP that much.

This YouTube clip compares the PRL with most commonly known intakes for the FL5 and tests the car on the dyno. Worth a watch perhaps.

Tegiwa did a YouTube video like 3 months ago comparing the different intakes (gruppe m, eventuri, prl, others)
This post is not about the intake in general, but specifically about the "Plus" auxiliary cold air duct optional add-on.

That FL5 intake comes with the cold air attachment already on it from what I can see.
