Hey, just wanted to take a moment to formally introduce myself and my '23 Type R. I got sick of playing The Game with buying brand-new, so I decided to go the used route and found a '23 CW with 2919 miles on it just a mile and-a-half from my home. Looked at it on a Saturday and got the keys and took it home the following Monday.

I want to thank @Clark_Kent , @Wrexysi , and @RP2000R for your guys' help in suggested the used-market since I was pretty set on test driving before purchasing. Also, @dng for putting together the incredible FL5 motoringobsession tracker that I'm sure we all greatly appreciate; @roastduck for keeping me up-to-date on tracking cars when I was looking at purchasing new; everyone who posted in my "PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection)" thread; and @savagegeese for creating all of your content for the FL5 on your YouTube channel, which were the final nails in the coffin for me on deciding the FL5 was the right car.

Congratulations! You made the smart move.
Between wanting a test drive and not wanting to pay the markup, I went the same route back in 2020 - no regrets.
Looks great in the pics.
Enjoy driving the dream.

Thank you for the warm welcome and congratulations, everyone! I hope to be more active on here now that I've had the car for a bit and have introduced myself.

I like to think so. I was just fed up with the whole dealership experience with buying new, plus I needed a car because my previous vehicle needed repairs that were going to cost way too much to be worth it.
That being said, there was still a markup on the '23 I purchased. However, the dealership I worked with was great, they gave me the highest offer on my trade (which offset the markup a bit), and they accepted my outside loan offer without changing pricing.

The joke goes like this...I got a test drive, and paid $ 35K, MSRP for a 2018 Civic Type R!

However, I had to wait until 2020 when it had 13,800 miles to test drive it, and pay that original MSRP.
And guess what? I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I bought my '17 SI new, and paid a little under MSRP, amazing car for $ 23,500. But still was happy to trade it in for the car I wanted in the first place, but was not even available in 2017 for much under
$ 50K.

My point? There is price, and then there is value. Better you should pay a little extra for the right car, then get a 'screaming deal' on the wrong one.

It's good to hear from someone who was in the same boat as me. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome aboard. That's one sexy car.
Thank you and right back at ya. I was seriously considering Boost Blue for awhile but decided it'd draw too much attention for my liking where I live. Still really enjoy seeing the color around here.
