Has the 2nd gear grind happened to your FL5 yet?

I have RMM, acuity bushings, and hybrid shifter. No change. 2nd gear you can feel it catch/drag when up or down shifting. No grinds in any other gear. I also adjusted the clutch pedal. Should all slop be removed from the clutch pedal? I adjusted to hit hit the white piece but that still seems to have all in it.
Fluid is next.
Anything else?

How was adjusting the pedal? I saw a video on it looks easy but seems a little complicated lol if that makes any sense

I did the fully adjustable stage 3 acuity kit, so its the full assembly, including cable bushings. I had installed the shifter first, with the base bushings, and that transformed the shifter into a tight/stiff shifter. (My settings are on the tallest height, with middle gate spacing and throws) However when I installed the cable bushings the next day, that's what improved shifter quality the most.

Thank you for all this, I love modding my cars but always thought after market shifters and accessories were unnecessary. But i think i was wrong and going to have to try it out.

Easy it's just a jam nut you loosen then spin the rod. Now accessing it is a little difficult trying to reach it and fit down there.

Yes I have a catch/ lockout sensation going into second most of the time.
I'm cautious of it grinding so have slowed shifting where I count to 3 then put it in gear.

I had hard grinds 6 or so times. Once was going straight and under 4k RPMs. The others were mostly turning and hard acceleration from a stop to avoid oncoming traffic.
I haven't touched the master cylinder or clutch delay. I did see a recent FB post with someone having success doing this. I'm down for whatever fixes it.

I had the turning under hard acceleration in lower gears and grinding as well. The only three or four times I can really remember it grinding, I was turning exactly the fashion you were—trying to not get hit or otherwise avoid traffic.

The turning and accelerating part, I think, may be a ‘clue.’ I don’t know enough about the mechanics and engineering of cars to guess what that might mean. Maybe something to do with engine mounts? But you’ve said you’ve replaced the rear one. I haven’t heard of anyone having replaced that that still has problems.

I think it's the second gear synchro, assembly process or quality issue. Or it could be a design issue if something like improper tolerances are allowed on drawings. From what I've seen, all those fixes like fluid, RMM, pedal adjustment, etc. would just mitigate the issue instead of fixing it. And if you are lucky you might get away with those mitigations, and if not, replacing the synchro or whatever the failure part probably is the only way to go.

The problem is, with the issue difficult to reproduce (might be an edge case that requires many factors), dealers won't do much about it

Yeah. I haven't even entertained taking it to the dealership because of this reason.
Hopefully fluid then its CDV delete and braided clutch line replacement.

I'm at 600 miles finally! My issue seems to be me I think, getting more used to the clutch now. I think it was me not depressing it enough honestly.

I wouldn't say it's hard, but it takes time, and it definitely helps if you have someone to help you. I am no wrench at all, very minimal experience working on cars, but I was able to do it with a buddy who has all the tools and has more experience than I do. I will say the shifter cable bushings are a bitch to get to, a lot of labor to just install a small part, but it was well worth it. The shifter assembly itself just required removing a lot of panels, for the fk8 it was pretty much everything below the screen was removed, and the entire center console going all the way to the back was out. So the part isn't difficult you just have a lot of stuff to get around to get to it.

Delete the clutch delay valve; I did it and it’s night and day; the way the car should’ve came. I got some love and some hate for it; I posted my results on Facebook via FL5 enthusiasts group page.

No more granny shifting in fear of the grind; smooth as butter now with quick shifts.

It's usually driver error. I'm at nearly 13K miles on mine now and have never had a second gear grind.

I do shift properly with correct hand placement which I feel is important on this transmission. I also rarely redline 1st gear (it's pointless anyway).

Been driving manuals for 20 years never scratched 2nd or any gear tbh before, in regards to hand placement what exactly are you referring too? I could always learn something new and I do believe this transmission is very particular in that gear.
