I don't think that's actually a deal because I assume that won't come with tires mounted, balanced and installed. Plus, like you said you have to factor in shipping and then the additional hassle of finding a place to mount, balance and install and I'm sure that place will charge some kind of fee too. I think it would be best to try and get from factory if possible as part of OEM option.

Curious to know if any cars came with this wheel option or are all of them the basic car with dealer installed accessories like the leather shift knob and carbon fiber rear wing?
It's a dealer accessory. It won't ever come from the factory with it. Dealers put them on. It is a decent option for OEM forged wheels. Even if you buy aftermarket wheels, you still have to buy tires and mount/balance.

If you buy them with the car do dealers typically take the OEM wheels?

I could be wrong but I'm not so sure I agree with you because on the configurator, it shows up under options and not accessories. I'm sure someone will come on here in the near future and confirm what the accessory system/order system says.

It wouldn't be factory option at $3100, they'd get cost savings if they were replacing the stock wheels at the factory. Like BMW used to have $500 wheel upgrades. At $3100 it's gotta be a dealer accessory.

Not bad looking wheels but for that price I would rather just buy my own selected aftermarket wheels. That even puts Porsche wheel pricing to shame.

I just like the fact they will be perfect OE fitment. I would opt to buy the after the fact as someone already found them online for $2600, much cheaper than the $3100 configurator price.

That’s how they get you… with options and add-ons. Before you know it, you’re driving around in a $70k Civic.

Thing is if the dealer has these installed as an accessory that could not be opted out of at least I'd get something for the money. All these ADM are just giving you the privilege to purchase the car.

I've paid $10k over and bought the carbon wing, forged wheels, 6 years/100k warranty and wheel & tire protection package...you see, where I am, over paying is the only way to get one. If you can get one at MSRP, good for you, but I certainly don't feel embarrassed I've paid $72K for a Civic

I could have left out all the fixings and keep cost low, but I'll still end up buy the accessories & extended warranty...so that how I ran up the bill for this Civic...but YES, I AGREE, $72K civic, WTF was I thinking?!?!
All those thoughts will melt away the moment you first fire up the Type R...

That’s the thing though, aside from paying the 10k over MSRP, you just bought accessories you’d have purchased aftermarket anyway. The stock wheels are still there, giving you two sets of wheels which you’d likely have regardless.

Had you bought the M3, would you not have added on accessories and aftermarket parts? That’s why it’s hard to compare an OTD price with accessories to a bone stock MSRP of another car. That M3 would have cost quite a bit more than 70k, likely more like 80k to 90k. For that money, you could buy the M4 Competition AWD, or the Cayman GTS 4.0.

If you like your Honda, roll with it. You definitely got screwed on that markup though, no way to beat around that bush. $50k+ for the effective MSRP of a civic is painful, no doubt about that
