Any recommendations for fog lights?

UPDATE:

I asked Diode Dynamics for recommendation:

I myself had a '22 Sport Sedan (Not nearly the same in terms of performance, but identical for the front crash bar!) and mounted some of our SS6 lightbars directly to the bottom of the crash bar. (The front crash bar has a thin sort of 'shelf' along the back edge that you can drill right through, and mount lights directly to!) I also did this same install on a '25 Sport Sedan, and it worked the same way:
Diode Dynamics on 2025 Civic Sport.webp

For that install, I used the lights we offer, plus their standard harness, and this Honda-style switch from Amazon

I attempted find Honda OEM fog lights for the FL5, no such part number seems to be available, neither US, Canada, nor JDM, Europe, etc.

Based on research, the Spyder fog lights seem easiest to install ("direct bolt-on"), include harness and switch.

https://shop.spyderauto.com/products/9051203

Spyder Auto confirmed that these will NOT fit the FL5, even though some websites mention FL5 fitment.

The same research indicates that Mikstore or SWA fog lights require trimming of the FL5 bezel, which I rather not do.

There are no fog lights for the FL5 Type R, those fog lights are direct bolt on for the 22-24 Civics pre-face lift. I'm not sure why some of them list that they are for the FL5.

Thanks.

I did more searching, found these, all of which mentions the Type R

https://www.dream-automotive.com/pr...lights-honda-civic-type-r-fl5-2-0t-k20c1-2023

https://www.twostepperformance.com/...-civic-oem-full-led-fog-lights-w-switch-clear

however, Grok could not find any user saying that they have installed these successfully:

From my research, I found several other retailers mentioning the Spyder 9051203 as fitting the FL5 Type R front bumper as a direct bolt-on. For example, TBW Performance, ID Speed Shop, GoTurbo.net, and ShopJDM explicitly list compatibility with the 2023 Civic Type R in their product specs.tbwperformance.com Throtl and the official Spyder site list it for 2022-2023 Civic hatchback models but do not specify Type R, which has a wider bumper.throtl.com shop.spyderauto.com I could not find any user postings on forums like CivicXI or Reddit confirming installation on an FL5. One Reddit thread notes that standard Civic fog lights may need modifications to fit the Type R bumper due to width differences.reddit.com No YouTube videos show the Spyder kit installed on an FL5 either. To verify fit for your car, measure the bumper openings or contact a seller with FL5-specific questions before buying.
so I shot an email to Sypder Auto, asking them to clarify the fitment, and will report when they answer.

Saw this image on google when I was searching for fog light ideas and this fog light bar placement may be the exact route I go. Other options seem to cut into the bumper which I don't want to do and I think this route looks pretty cool.

But wouldn't this placement block airflow to the radiator and/or intercooler???

It definitely would block but unless you're tracking the car, I think the temp change would be negligible. I could be wrong though. I plan on swapping for an aftermarket intercooler (many of which are smaller and more efficient) anyways so I don't think space or temps would be an issue. I would just really hate to cut into the bumper with other fog light options haha.

Just heard back from Spyder Auto

9051203 will NOT fit the Type R

might be the only way to go, since the Sypder Auto will not fit the Type R

But are they any good?

Bright (no lumen output listed, only 5W LED), good throw/pattern?

Reliable?

Indeed easy to install (no installation instructions on t eh spyder auto website...)

FL5s do not have an OEM fog light option, what I can say is that a kit can be pieced together using OEM parts from other Hondas if you're up for some simple fabrication. I know of one person in Jamaica currently piecing together a kit that will use the JDM CRV RS foglight.

Notice how the bumper has a similar design to the FL5. Clearances for ducting and the wheel liner have to be verified but apart from the fog light housing (which is sealed) everything else needed like the steering stalk switch, wiring and relay can be sourced from a dealership here using Civic touring part numbers.

You can always hope that Spoon releases the bumper that they had on one of their race cars that they integrated fog lights.

Looks like those could also fit dual oil coolers...

Yeah, they also do not have an intercooler to contend with, so that may or may not work. If you want better lighting, have you looked at the Alpharex headlights? Those seem like they have a much better light output than the factory headlights.

I think they were. They may explain it in this video if they do or not, its been awhile.

I do know they talk about the custom bumper and fog light set up a little.

Thanks,

I did look at Alpharex headlights.

But I would like to have fog lights (low to the ground and wide beam). we do get fairly thick fog regularly by the coast.
