If the pops and bangs go away it means your car is storing a CEL, a custom tune isn't necessarily going to fix the issue that caused the code. Verify that the intake was installed correctly and then check for codes. Reset the code(s) drive the car and check if the pops and bangs return. If they don't return then the codes are still active.

A custom tune is unnecessary to resolve the issue you're having, it is recommended to get a custom tune though.
I did get a CEL during the install, but it since cleared after I fixed the issue. It’s possible it was storing it and only fully cleared on the reflash. however, I didn’t see any codes in the hondata app before I reflashed, so I’m not sure if there’s a better way to check (I have a code scanner but didn’t try it).

Same thing happened to me after installing the PRL intake, detent springs, and shifter cable bushings. I thought it was from removing the battery. Reflashed fixed it too.

Did you notice a difference with the PRL HVI other than the sound (and lack of pops and bangs)?

A scanner tool would be a much better option. The Hondata app doesn't allow you to see everything that you can see with a scanner tool.

For those searching, I can confirm that just clearing the codes (via scan tool) in this type of situation will get the tune back without having to reflash.

I had the same issue and even though the CEL was not lit on the dash, when i scanned it, the codes were showing up. I cleared them and then it was back to normal.
