My cars alignment has been off since I bought it. Steering wheel was off center off the dealer lot, they tried to align then told me they don’t have the fl5 specs, but they used the fk8. Which is stupid to me. Now they’re saying they likely won’t have alignment specs until November 2023.

wtf.

does anyone have alignment specs for fl5??

kinda crazy Honda would sell a car that their dealers can’t service.

I ran into the same problem so I made a trip to a shop that had a spec. I hope this helps!

This will definitely help, thank you! Do they use a system other than hunter? Weird that the dealer doesn’t have it but that shop did. Was it a performance shop or something?

Yes. They were working on 5 gts when I was there.

Anyone else notice this? I put a new steering wheel on and the centerline is certainly not center... It's very odd. It's an OEM wheel just converted. I tried 4 others and all the same results..

They can fix that with an alignment. Spline orientation on the steering wheel is probably slightly different.

If the angle is off compared to the original wheel, you probably misaligned the wheel when you mounted it back onto the spline. Did you try resetting the wheel by moving it one tooth over to compensate?

My steering wheel is also a bit off from the factory. Will get it realigned soon, hopefully the Dealer will have the info then.

Good to know, it's either 1 notch too far to the left or 1 too far to the right, I messed with it for hours.

If the car veers to the right with the wheel straight, reposition the wheel one notch to the right, and vice-versa if veering to the left. One notch makes a pretty big difference, one can be fooled to think otherwise since the spline is tiny compared to the diameter of the entire wheel. My steering was a little off from the factory and moving it over one tooth made the car veer the same amount in the other direction, and since you can't move it half a tooth, the only solution in my case was to get a wheel alignment to address my OCD.

The issue with laser alignments is that they are NEVER 100% accurate - they're not even 90% accurate in most cases. This is true on every machine I've ever worked on, Corghi's, John Bean, etc. There is always a margin of error, some being better than others.

So it is actually quite common that a car comes off the alignment machine with the steering wheel being off centre when traveling straight, this is where the skill of the aligner needs to know where to compensate for the short comings of the alignment system, and make the relevant tweaks.

You can almost treat an alignment sheet like a dyno sheet, its more a reference to previous settings rather than outright horsepower or in the case of an alignment: millimeter/angular accuracy.

Believe it or not, the MOST accurate way to do an alignment is with string on parallel bars. And as with anything, the best results comes from the most skilled operators.

I would NEVER reposition the steering wheel spline and this is centralised from factory to the steering rack.
All it takes to centralise the wheel to the direction of travel is a tweak to the tie rods.

Source: I worked as a wheel aligner for one of Sydney's highest profile suspension/alignment specialists in a past life. I do suspension set ups and alignments as a word-of-mouth side business at the moment.

Yup, this is important. Tenth gen civics have variable gear ratio on the steering rack. I can only assume 11th gens do too. To work properly, the steering wheel center position has to be correctly positioned on the steering rack.
