Hi, been a while since I've been on the forum. I was trying to find a similar issue but can't seem to find the keywords to search. I was wondering if anyone knows what could be the best route to take in this situation: I washed the car on Saturday. I tried to go for a ride yesterday morning (Sunday) and released the EPB as usual. But when I tried accelerating, the car was still held in place. I tried rocking it a bit as it could be the brakes are stuck due to having just washed the car but still no movement. I'm not exactly sure what's up. Great thing is that it's at home in the garage and not in a parking lot somewhere.

Do you hear the epb releasing or no?

I still think its because you washed the car and the pads are fused to rotors. I have had this happen before (on a different car) and took some hard acceleration for it to break the bond, car had been sitting for a while after a wash, now I always take it around the block.

If you don’t hear the ebrake releasing then definitely something is up with that

GOT IT GUYS! It’s that the front right caliper was stuck to the disc due to a mixture of just having been washed and the increase in humidity.
I was scared to give it more gas and release the clutch. I needed to be a little more rough with her.

Glad you got it, I knew had to be it because when it happened to me the amount of accel I had to put was no joke, also since slippery garage floor it needs even more torque to break the seal.

Next time take car for a drive around the block after a wash, I always do this now.

Got it! Thanks for the advice again. It was the first time it happened but now I know.

Dang that’s great!

same happened to my sti back in the day. It was stuck stuck. I had to hit like 2k rpm and slip the damn clutch some just to move forward and un stick a front caliper!

Hasn't happened on the FL5, but it did on the FK8 I had.
I've since made sure I heated the brakes before parking by applying them hard after rain or a car wash.

Good lesson learned.
As previously mentioned, I always go for a quick trip after every wash and hit the brakes several times to scrub the rotors clean. Then when pulling into the garage when done don’t use the ebrake when parking, just leave it in gear.

this happens sometimes. the brake rotors have corroded from the moisture and are locked in place. Try rocking the car back and forth with the clutch until it breaks free. you'll probably hear a loud 'bang' if it's bad enough you can't move the car.

I think it’s been answered here but it’s definitely the pads bonding to the rotors. Scared the heck out of me first time it happened. What I do now right after the wash is take it for a quick short drive. Heating up the brakes seems to dry them up eliminating the issue. Also gets all the water out of all the crevices that like to drip out and leave water spots all over.
Hope this helps
