Nice!

What is the car lowered on?Any other mods? Brake pads? etc?
Thanks!

KW V3
Hawk DTC-70 front and DTC-30 back
PRL HVI
Phearable Stage 2
Apex EC-7 with RE-71RS

…and that’s it! Hope to hit 1:58s with this setup, I’m so close. Once I hit sub2 I just took it easy the rest of the day.

How much of the time gained do you think was due to the mods as opposed to you getting faster?

This is a great question. On my first day I was 100% stock minus brake fluid and pads. I had no confidence in the tires which was frustrating because I knew I could be faster than what my lap times indicated. Also haven’t been to the race track in over 2 years at that point and have never driven FWD on track.

Second track day I added wheels and Dunlop Direzzas (low-mid pack 200tw tire). Confidence shot through the roof and ended up dropping ~5.5 seconds.

Rest of the other track days were figuring out the proper lines, setup, building more confidence, etc. The fourth track day was an anomaly as I lost confidence again as my Direzzas lost grip.

All that to say the mods supplemented confidence and vice versa, with lap times dropping in the process. So to scientifically answer your question, I estimate 50% mods and 50% me getting faster 🤣.

That sounds about right!

Were the PS4s that lacking in grip?

Would like to track mine, but not into mods. I’m used to sub-100tw R comps on my Elise.

Some people have found some success on the stock PS4S but imo they aren’t meant to be consistently used on the track. My prior track experience has only been on 100-200tw tires so in a way I got too spoiled on them.

If you’re not into mods you could always still use the stock wheels but put on some nicer 200tw or so tires!
