How odd. I’m in So Cal and have done all street miles (no tracks, only two short canyon runs). If the MM calculations are linear, I’ll be at close to 10k miles before I’m at 15%.

To me, this is the heart of the debate - do we trust that OEMs have done this kind of testing and can rely on their service intervals? Or, as others have argued, are they extending the service intervals to make it cheaper for the consumer (and to offset the cost of their free oil change offers)...

My main question is what info the MM is using to determine the oil life. As my second question implies, I too think that Honda wouldn’t recommend a service interval that would damage the engine.

Sure, but as I said, they are different cars mechanically. How useful do you find a manual for a car with a different engine and transmission? Is there CTR specfic info in the Hatchback manual? Of course, google is a thing, but it’s no substitute for information from the factory.
