During my recent stint on the track, I noticed very seldom times that burning clutch smell. I was so concerned about it, that to make sure it wasn't me, I went back to my data logs and checked the clutch engagement on every single scene to make sure I wasn't riding the clutch; I was NOT.

However, I figured it was worth asking the group here the following: With your clutch engagement percentage showing on your screen (I used the percentage dial to see this easily) at what percentage point and RPM are you meshing when starting from being stopped when daily driving (DD'ing)?

I'll start with:

1,750-rpm
42% showing on the screen dial with the pedal releasing at the meshing point (but oddly it's the inverse that's "engaged" at 58%...)

What I want to do is see if my clutch is engaging later than others... frankly, I think the pedal, since I bought it, engages higher off the floor than other sticks I've driven.

Every car comes a little bit different from the factory. The engagement height is adjustable.

Some of that is going to come down to the clutch delay valve built into the slave cylinder. The delay valve can be deleted. They install this part to reduce drivetrain stock, but those of us that have a lot of experience driving stick absolutely hate how it feels.

This is interesting to me... been driving stick since '99 and have never heard of this. Frankly, with this car, it's hard for me to find the same spot all the time... maybe that's part of this widget?

Has anyone removed this valve?
