The guy who got it and posted on FB used to be a Finance Manager or GM for that Honda dealer up until earlier this year. So regardless of who was in that list he was going to get it first. He also owns an FK8 and an LE.

I’m still very confused with this stripe/Honda ordering portal. So if there’s only one entry allowed in the portal does only count those who have been given an allocation as a “entry”? What about those at dealerships who enter 10+ people into the stripe/Honda ordering system? Does this mean those people lower in the list without confirmed allocations can’t work with another dealer that might have a allocation?

I pushed my dealer a little more for some concrete information, went over the sales guys head to the sales manager. He confirmed with their Honda rep that they are getting 6 cars total, 2 per model year. I am number 4 (not 2 or 3 like the sales guy was saying) so the second 2024 incoming is mine, he sent me an updated BOS and gave it to me in writing the car is mine. I was able to pass on the other 2024 allocation I found to another member here who scooped that one. I would call that a win win for everyone! Now I'll have one more full year to rip my GR86 around aswell.

The dealer I "ordered" I'll use that term loosly has told me i'm #3 and wants to bump me to #2. I'm also going to assume he bumped me up their list because I have a 22' to trade in on the CTR (he said that without saying that). I think the trade in fact helped me get higher up the list, kind of scummy for them to do, I feel bad for the others, but nothing I can do about it. However he keeps telling me "don't worry we are getting 2-3 in, you'll have it by next summer for sure" which I think is a load of shit. I started calling out of province and found a for sure thing on a 24' arriving this time next year or early 2024. Only problem is it's a non refundable deposit, but they said they aren't taking multiple deposits, only one and then done, so it does sound promising. But I used that leverage to try and strong arm the first dealer to tell me what the hell's going on. We'll see what happens, I guess I'm just along for the ride now.

See that is what I thought as well, some quick googling suggests otherwise. Apparently if it's explicitly noted in the contract then it can be non refunable. The dealers I phoned on the east coast all had similar requirements.
