I just let the clutch hit it. After a few weeks of driving, the contact area on the mat compressed down where you no longer feel the clutch push against the mat.

Got it... I have the same: gate, guns, and dogs at home. gate guards guns on base (work)

I assumed that there was an alternative electronic device that functions similar to the TCU, but without transmitting the data (i.e. receive only)

on the other hand, so far I have not notice any side effects after removing the TCU (I now have a whole collection of removed devices... the TCU, the engine noise injecting thingy, and the original ADS module)

One of the Rays G025 SZ Edition 19x9.5 +44 wheels arrived today (two day staggered shipment to avoid tariff and other import fees). The G025 is available in two "Shining" colors being the G025 Shining Black Metal (looks like black chrome) or the G025 SZ Edition Shining Bronze Metal. I went with the latter:

I really like the "Shining" finish since variations of the base color looks different depending on light reflecting from different angles. For comparison, here is a Volk TE37 with a Bronze (Anodized) finish:
