Can the electrolyte in our GS Yuasa batteries be topped off? The top of the battery is unlike anything I've seen before. It's not obvious I can remove the top cap without breaking something. The top cap spans the length of the battery.

Its normal to occassionally to top off lead-acid batteries with distilled water in Arizona. Thanks.

I don't believe so. It is a group 47 battery that was commonly used for decades in European cars . The top cap was designed for several reasons. To be extra strong to handle weight during shipping. Protect accidental terminal shorting during maintenance and accidents. For extra volume so gasses can expand/contract and also escape through a port on the top side. This reinforced vent cap is almost always plastic welded to the battery case, so no access.

Agreed - Just leave it alone and simply replace it every 4-5 years.
