Elantra does not look good at all design wise. Overstyled and it already looks aged to me. The refreshed i30n is just about a perfect hothatch.

This statement blows my mind. Not because you find the i20n so impressive, but because it’s like half the price of the Civic!

I’ve always been a huge fan of cars that punch way above there weight. That’s why I loved my EVO X so much. I find it crazy that the cheap cars that I used to love back in the day were those very things. in 2017 when I bough my 340i, M2’s cost 65k. If any CTR’s hit the lots in Canada the will be going for 60-70 based off what I’m seeing with Golf R prices! I know it’s a five year time spread but Civics for the price of M cars…

Where is a Golf R 44k? They load out at 52k Canadian. You can’t find one on Auto trader much less than 60k.

its 44k in the states. The car bubble just popped. I think if you wait another 6 months you should start finding cars under sticker. Carmax earnings came out yesterday and it was dismal and so was their guidance. This is just he start of the recession, we'll be knee deep in it next summer.

Someone today will put an order on a Golf R and will get it in 6 months.

CarMax & Carvana are going to look awful. They have no healthy way to aquire product other than buying cars from the general public as far as I can tell.

This means they buy the rest of their inventory at the auction. Margins are tight and competition is quite high because rental car agencies are purchasing vehicles there too. This is why Carvana purchased ADESA.

Rates have will impact demand.

However in the end...

I'll say it again...

You need new car inventory. If there is not enough supply. The prices will remain high.

9/28 two Golf Rs went though MMR.

6 speed went for 50,000
DC went for 52,500.

So.. What's that?.. 4-7k over MSRP...

I think you can see why Carmax and Carvana are down.

uhm are we watching the same thing? cause auto auctions have been failing to catch bids. a 2019 Golf R was going for nearly 45k at used prices, now its going for 36k just a few months later.

2022 model year started at 44k CAD. 2023 model year starts at 47.5k, but add the DSG and sunroof and it tops out at 50k CAD before destination or taxes.

I'll be shocked if the 2023 Civic Type R will be less than the Golf R in Canada. 2021 Type R was already 46k CAD.

Well its kind of a moot point because the Camaro would do the same.

I mean its really not that much of an accomplishment to find a car that can murder the CTR and GRC in a straight line ? Straight line performance and turbo 4 cyclinders do not mix, lets be real now ?
