So I initially didn’t receive a call despite being very quick to sign the contact and place a deposit only to find out that the dealer put my mobile number in wrong hence no call. After frantically calling Honda I was informed they had been trying to call me for the past week and thankfully still kept my allocation. I guess it pays to always double check these details. I’m in QLD, have a CW, first preference was black (I’ve never had a black car and feel that this might be blessing in disguise but I really loved the look of the black), haven’t been told anything so far about time frame. The gentleman at Honda gave the impression that this current allocation of ~ 100 cars is all that is coming but in different batches. He was very tight lipped, felt like discussing classified documents with ASIO.

Congrats all so far who have secured an allocation!! I'm sure it's been as tense a wait for most people as it has been for me 😅

I placed a deposit down earlier in the year once I heard there was rumours of a 2025 delivery, so have been waiting quite a few months. Had the contract signed within 10 minutes of the orders going live, and got the call last Thursday to say I'd been allocated a Type R! Got my first and only choice of Racing Blue, which myself and my incredible dealer are pumped as to see :headbang: Car arrives in my area in early Sept, and I'll be picking it up a few weeks later.

When I was chatting to Honda Corporate they seemed to indicate that this Sept drop would not be the last delivery of Type R's to Aus, so I wouldn't lose hope as there may be more 2025 builds coming later in the year or even early next year. Can't imagine it would be a huge number, but hopefully enough to help the few last people hoping to get an FL5 before it goes away for good (sadly)!
Sept drops won’t be the last because mine coming in November lol. After that, it’s a bit fishy at this stage. Lucky we all got it! Let’s go!

Apparently whoever picking late August are the ones built in Jan 2025. Don’t know how long they been sitting there for. My one coming in November and seems to be Sept 25 build. Did you ask your dealer to give you some extra freebies to compensate lol?

After reading this thread, and seeing as I'm lucky enough to have an allocation, I thought I'd join and put my 2 bob's worth in.
I'm in WA and registered interest in May, test drove 8/8, 1k down as soon as we pulled back into the dealership.
18/8 was called by dealership to continue with application. Extra 4k down. Colour chosen (CW).
21/8 contacted by Honda Australia to confirm I have received allocation in (CW).
27/8 I called the dealership to chase a delivery date. I was advised September, and received updated contract with VIN# and production date of 7/7/25.

Thanks for sharing. Little over the process myself. Similar to you, after my call from Honda Australia, I never received a call from my dealer. When I called a few days later to enquire about an update or a delivery date, dealer said we don't know. Response was, "when Honda Australia tell us we will tell you."

I was lead to believe if you have your allocation, which would be attached to your specific dealer. That the dealer would have receive all information on individual vehicle details/status. Which would include an ETA.
Again, that's my interpretation, during the call, informing my dealer of the allocation. They just searched my order/contract number and had the details immediately. Time will tell.

Had a similar conversation this morning. Dealer said likely November but without any real sense of confidence. Apparently only 2 Black models were allocated this year to Australia

Hi Cannotbechanged,

Your interpretation and understanding sounds logical and business like to me.

A process to sell the limited units, run to identify genuine buyers, by seeking a modest deposit, slightly higher than normal, that will filter out the dreamers, sign a contract and then allocate those units to specific buyers, makes sense and seems a very orderly, logical way to sell your limited units.

Being a little cheeky and knowing demand outstrips supply, you can probably get away with a 6 or 7% price increase at the last minute. (I guess someone is getting a little wink and pat on the back for that move, if not an increase in their bonus.)

But then telling the buyer, after you allocate one of these scarce units, that you specifically identify is available for them, "We don't have any further information. We are unsure when you will get the unit, where it is or any other details."

This seems to be bit of a breakdown in an otherwise carefully planned process.

It's not like they are harvesting these things from ghost ships suddenly appearing at random near different continents in the open ocean. They have complete control over manufacturing, shipping, allocation, marketing and pricing. Noting there are constraints due to external factors driving the allocation of scare resources to maximize their profit.

The irony of me responding to a community member named "Cannotbechanged" with my little rant is not lost on me.

I guess it is time to suck it up princess, deal with it and realize it "cannotbechanged."

Just seems an unnecessarily, frustrating development in the process that kills some of the joy.

Apologies for my rant and yes, thank you, I do feel a little better. I am ok now, worse things have happened.

On the bright side, based off some of the comments in this forum, you car delivered in November may have a much later build date than those delivered earlier and give you a little extra cash back whenever you decide to sell or trade it. Hopefully after at least a few years enjoying it.

All good,
When I registered interest on Honda Australia website in May I went on the mailing list.
30/7 Honda emailed me, letting me know it would be 5k deposit to be in with a chance.
18/8 Honda emailed again, stating 5k deposit and a Honda contract required when orders open on the 19th. Driveaway price of 79k, MY24's were 74100k plus on roads last year.
Sorry to hear its been a bummer for you.

Awww, I wish mine would come in September too :(

Congrats mate, good to hear of another success story! That build date sounds much more like what I would've expected for the September deliveries. I'll report back when I pick mine up in a few weeks, but I'd be surprised if it was really a Jan 2025 build. That is a long time to have a car sitting taking up storage space, especially one that's in high demand in most markets (even noting they're RHD cars).

Has anyone here ordered the Sonic Grey? I knew the CW was popular, but didn't expect it to dominate as much as it sounds like it has! Would be keen to see the Black in the flesh, can't believe they'd only bring two units in.

I second the call for some freebies 😋

Does anyone know anything about the supposedly "new" spoiler accessory option? I saw the news sites reporting it as "new", and didn't get a chance to look at it before it was taken off the Honda website. I'm assuming it's actually just the same carbon/red polymer wing offered before, noting the price was exactly the same.

Its not here yet... But there is an empty spot in the garage waiting. Stay tuned.
Same.
I had a monster garage clean-up over the weekend.
I also now have a beautiful clear spot just waiting :)

I also now have to book a council clean-up due to the mountain of crap that I was finally able to convince the rest of the family to get rid-of.
Anyone need a set of wheels / tyres for a TD42 GU Patrol, or a barely used single mattress ?
Didn't think so.....
