got some photos you could share?
Ok here we go...
In my photo you can see i attached one side of the spring to the metal bracket that the electronic motor mounts to. The other end is attached to the swivel mechanism on the Apexi exhaust. In this picture orientation, the motor opens the valve by spinning counter clockwise. I chose a spring from a bag of universal throttle return springs found at Advance Auto. In the picture the valve is in the closed position and the spring has some pretension on it. This combined with the pretension the motor spring already had has now eliminated the rattle. Again from my previous post the motor still spins and opens/closes the valve just as quickly and easily as it did without the spring.

Seems to me (no experience with this exhaust) that Apexi could provide a new spring that produces enough tension to fully close the valve and not vibrate?

You are onto something here. Because the valve apexi uses is a common throttle body valve that is much larger than the stock one. The stock on has a hexagon shape and meets up to a walled lip. Im sure the spring/motor combo just has a harder time holding the larger throttle body type valve from the Apexi closed.

That's awesome, mine hasn't developed a rattle again and it's been over a year. If it were to happen again I'll definitely go that route. I'll share your findings if anyone asks.

And Apexi could absolutely provide a better spring for it.
