I got an email from them with some troubleshooting instructions. Additionally I've reached out to a few owners and I'm getting mixed answers. Some say the only way to get rid of the rattle is to leave the flap open. Others have given me ideas to try.The only way I have gotten the rattle to go away is to pull the active valve fuse so the flap is stuck in the "open" position.
I've been running it this way with no rattle for weeks and today i decided to re-activate it and the rattle is back. What a shame.
Has anyone from Apexi commented on this issue?
It is definitely louder than any videos you might have seen on it. But it is not unbearable. The drone sound only happens between 3k and 4k RPMOh great. My Apexi exhaust should be arriving in a week or so. The whole point of getting an exhaust with the valve is so the volume can be controlled when my family is in the car.
I was able to solve it. Trying to figure out how to put it in words since I didn't get to record the process. I'll try to in a bitThe only way I have gotten the rattle to go away is to pull the active valve fuse so the flap is stuck in the "open" position.

Thank you. I’m supposed to get the exhaust Friday but won’t get it installed until my downpipe comes in and that’s another 3 weeks out. When you get yours feel free to reach out. I fixes my rattle
How did you end up solving this. Have the same issue with mineI was able to solve it. Trying to figure out how to put it in words since I didn't get to record the process. I'll try to in a bit

I also have the Apexi exhaust. I set the valve motor with pretension in the closed position. I still experienced some of the rattle even with the pretension.
I have now installed a generic throttle return spring to the outside of the exhaust to help offset some more tension. I just looked at the rotation movement and found a strategic position for the throttle return spring to hook onto the rotating assembly. The spring is not heavy duty enough to stop the motor from functioning properly. This immediately stopped the exhaust rattle.
I've been riding around for a few weeks with no issue.
Will update if I ever run into issues such as the spring breaking or the motor prematurely wearing out. However, I don't think I see either of those things happening. We'll see...
I'll try to slip under there and get some later. Should of preemptively thought about that.got some photos you could share?
