Hello,

I’d like to swap out my stock shifter for either the Hybrid or Acuity short shifter. Does anyone have experience with both of them? If so, did you have a preference or are they both solid options?

Thanks :)

Acuity does not have a full short shifter assembly yet like Hybrid Racing does, there's is supposedly coming out soon.

Acuity doesn't make a short throw shifter at this time. I highly recommend the Hybrid Racing Short Throw Shifter. We run these in our shop Rs and the shop Si.

Hybrid Racing Short Shifter Assembly

Got more in route to our warehouse in about 2 weeks.

Anyone with feedback on the short shifter?
When compared to the factory shifter, it's a night and day difference. I was always guessing what gear I was in with the stock shifter because it felt so rubbery. I sometimes couldn't tell if I was in gear all the way. With the short throw, the shifts are super crisp and the adjustability meets the needs of any driver. The whole shifter assembly is made with high quality parts and the finish is gorgeous. This shifter can be run with or without a shift boot.

For me personally, I run the shifter on the shortest settings with a competition shift rod, shifter cable bushings, and the heavy duty detent springs as I like the feel of that the most. It's the shortest setting, but if you run the shift rod, it makes it not so short that you don't know what gear you're in. The boss man runs the shifter on the default settings, shifter cable bushings, and the competition shift rod. The great thing about upgrading your shifting components is that it's highly customizable and you can find what you like the most.

We have been running these shifters for almost a year with 0 issues.

I am running the HR shifter on the shortest settings. No issues and it is a significant difference. A positive difference. I run the Acuity shifter in my X Gen Si. so when I started driving the FL5, I did not like the stock shifter at all. I highly recommend the HR shifter.

I have been holding out for the Acuity, but they are taking their time. I hope they release something soon before I get the Hybrid Racing pieces.

My SI already had the base bushings, short throw adapter and linkage bushings. I left those on when I traded it in and now I am looking to pull the trigger for the FL5.

Thanks Savannah! Can the Competition Rod be run with a boot? I have been holding out for the Acuity, but may order the Hybrid Shifter from you when they are back in stock.

All the best,

Mike

Personally I'm waiting for the Acuity shifter to come out. Only reason is competition brings out the best of the market. Hybrid has no competition at the moment. And Acuity makes really great parts.

However it's only a few hundred bucks and pretty sure you spent more on dumber shit lol

I had the Acuity shifter in my 2019 Type R and assumed there was a version available for the newer model. Thanks for letting me know it’s not out yet. In the meantime, I decided to purchase the Hybrid shifter and I’m really impressed with it! It's incredibly solid and reminds me of my previous Acuity shifter.

Here are some pictures comparing the stock shifter to the Hybrid shifter. The installation process was straightforward, and the shifter cables were easier to manage compared to the previous generation Type R.

Amazing looking. My question is this, for the stock FL5, is that chrome surrounding edge piece what the stock piece turns into if you remove the boot or is it an extra thing to get - and can this shifter be used with the sock cables without altering them?

Thank you in advance!

Jeff
