Thinking from the perspective of a track car....

The available FMICs are confined to the OE bumper opening. Too much of the increase in volume is derived from an increase in thickness, unduly negatively impacting the heat exchangers "downstream".

Does anyone know of a solution available or in development that offers increased volume with less impact on the other heat exchangers?

I'm no expert but I think so far the solution has been to increase efficiency of the downstream components as well. New radiator for sure and hopefully we will see a better selection of oil coolers as well. I guess RV6 is coming out with a more efficient FMIC soon too.

I know others will chime in soon ?

For what it's worth I am going to try out a new triple pass radiator this spring. Too cold here to be on track until April ?

This is something I have been looking into for months. Been talking with RV6 and PWR. I'm fairly certain that I'm going with PWR intercooler and radiator. Pairing it with cooling under tray, oil cooler and vented hood. With a E50 mixture hopefully there will not be any issues with cooling.

Welp, there goes my plans of getting the PRL intercooler… is it really that bad for everything else behind it?

The PRL intercooler is a overweight brick. That's where most of the bad rap for FMICs are coming from.

PWR, J's Racing, and RV6 are more of an appropriate weight with better flow.

I'd be mindful that cooling systems developed/tested in tandem, are likely to produce better results because they work to account any shortfalls vs piecing together a bunch of disparate options.

What is the weight difference between OEM and the PRL intercooler?

Somebody should come up with a water to air intercool. Easier to package and much more efficient.

I believe it’s 18lbs or so heavier. While PWR and J’s are like 6lbs heavier.
definitely a price thing as well, where those are double or triple the price of the PRL. The PWR is about $1800

For a few pulls on the street a PRL is probably fine. All depends on your goals as said.

This is the track channel though! Not the pretend street “racers” channel ?
